Joseph Wendel Lown, the former mayor of San Angelo from 2003 to 2009, has tragically passed away. Reports from Mexico, where Lown resided, indicate that he died at his home. While the cause of death is currently unconfirmed, it is believed to have been a heart attack, stroke, or aneurysm. No foul play is suspected.
Water bill payment services online and over the phone will be down temporarily this weekend for maintenance. The services will be inactive from 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, to the evening of Saturday, Aug. 13.
ASU students were trained by the WHIT program in identifying and reporting signs of sexual, physical and emotional abuse; appropriate strategies for assessing student learning and progress; and methods of motivating students to fully engage with their studies. They were then paired with K-12 students in the Tom Green County Child Protective Services system for weekly tutoring sessions.

Outside the federal courthouse in downtown San Angelo early Friday afternoon, a line of supporters and opponents alike grew to gain entry into the federal courtroom to witness the sentencing of a man who was the most well-known political figure in San Angelo for nearly two decades.
