Cory Shayne Miller

Cory Shayne Miller, 35, of San Angelo, TX, passed away on Monday, November 18th, 2024. He was born on November 19th, 1988 in Ventura, California to Dianne Mary Leon and Vincent Ross Miller. Cory attended Lakeview High School and graduated in the class of 2007. He later went on to become a Journeyman Plumber where he worked for Concho Valley Plumbing for 12 years. Cory married Kristen Mote on June 13th, 2015 and had two children. Cory was a proud member of the Xiled Club and had a passion for motorcycles, fishing, playing guitar, leatherworking, and he loved to watch movies. He will always be remembered for being a hardworking, devoted family man who loved his girls more than anything in the world and was always willing to help anyone in need. Funeral services will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home on Saturday, November 23rd 2024. The viewing will be at 10am and the service begins at noon. We’ve launched a GoFundMe for his wife and daughters to assist them during this difficult transition. He is preceded by his grandparents Annette LaCroix, Harry and Delores Miller, his uncle David Miller, his Aunt Katherine, his Aunt Carol, and his cousin Jason. He is survived by his wife and two children, his parents, his two brothers, his Grandpa Bernie, and his extended family. He was a good man. He will be missed.

Barbara Black Crozier

Barbara Black Crozier, age 91, passed away on November 21, 2024, in San Angelo, Texas. She was born on December 7, 1932, in Eldorado, Oklahoma, to Jesse Ray Black and Jewel Imogene Harris. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Barbara spent her childhood in Eldorado and Tulsa, Oklahoma, as well as Denton, Texas before moving to various cities including Victoria, Corpus Christi, Bryan, and ultimately San Angelo.

On March 5, 1960, she married James Allen Crozier in Corpus Christi, Texas, and they enjoyed 32 years together full of love, adventure, and service to others.

Barbara was known for her independent spirit, positivity, and vibrant personality. She enjoyed activities such as quilting, needlepoint, crocheting, knitting, and sewing. In addition, Barbara and her husband were active members of the Comal County Sheriff’s Posse, where she rode a bay mare as part of the drill team. She had a special fondness for cats, butterflies, and redbirds, and while gardening was not her passion, she loved being surrounded by beautiful flowers. Barbara loved to travel with friends and family and visited several foreign countries. Having been surrounded by Aggies, she became a fan of Aggie football as well as the Cowboys.

Barbara was dedicated to giving back to her community, volunteering for many years at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi and at the women’s and children’s wing at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo.

After moving to San Angelo, Barbara became a member of Belmore Baptist Church until she was no longer able to drive, at which point she transferred her membership to Veribest Baptist Church.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Crozier, and her parents.

She is survived by her brother, James Ronald Black and wife Dagmar (deceased); daughter, Lisa Crozier Beasley and husband Mitchell; son, Allen Ray Crozier and wife Barbara; grandchildren Tyler Beasley, Clayton Beasley and wife Amber, Ryan Crozier, Cade Crozier, Adam Crozier, Jade Rhea, and Cambel Rhea; great-granddaughter Cozetta Beasley; nieces, Nancy Kincaid and husband Richard (deceased), Barbara Bludau and husband Kenneth, Sandy Smeltzer and husband Brian, Tina Petersen and husband Henry; nephew, Dan Crozier and wife Tamara; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the residents and staff at St. Angelus and Gentiva Hospice for their love and care of Barbara in her final years.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas. A memorial service will take place on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas. A graveside service will follow on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Waelder Community Cemetery in Waelder, Texas.

The officiants for the service will be Tyler Beasley and David Templin. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Beasley, Kenneth Bludau, Dan Crozier, Ryan Crozier, Cade Crozier, and Adam Crozier.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the following ministries:

Landra Kristin Stanley

Landra Kristin Stanley, 37, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 18, 2024, in San Angelo. Landra was born on December 9, 1986, in Lubbock, Texas to Lanny Cliff Wood and Lesa Templeton Wood. She grew up in Denver City, Texas and graduated from Denver City High School. After high school, she attended Angelo State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She met and married the love of her life Matt Stanley while attending ASU and they were married May 29, 2010. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother who devoted her life to her family. Her career path led her to work for Veribest ISD, Grape Creek ISD, Glen Meadows Joy School, Rio Vista Head Start, and finally John Glenn Middle School where she was currently teaching and coaching. Landra was a very giving and selfless person; she loved people, and she was always thinking of others. She loved investing in relationships and putting other people’s needs before her own. Landra especially adored her children and family, tirelessly being the best Wife and Mom she could be. Landra also had tremendous faith in her Lord Jesus Christ, and loved her church family. In her spare time, she loved traveling and seeing the world with her best friend, Matt, and their kids. At the end of every trip, she would ask where they were going for their next adventure.

Her zest for life was infectious, with a laugh that will forever ring in the hearts of those close to her. Landra leaves an unimaginable hole in the hearts of her people, but her impact will carry on with those blessed to know her.

Landra was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gene Templeton, Herman and Rita Lavern Wood, one uncle, Danny Wood and one cousin Luke Templeton. She is survived by her husband, Matt Stanley and their children Karsyn Jo, Jordyn Rose and Nash Edward Stanley, and a special bonus child Bryson Williams, all of San Angelo; her parents, Lesa Wood, of Ropesville, TX, Lanny Wood, of San Angelo; her grandmother, Helen Templeton, of Earth, TX; her mother and father-in-law, Tibby and Judy Stanley, of San Angelo; her brother, Logan Wood and his wife Cally, of Midland, TX; her sister-in-law, Dawn Stevens and her husband Toby, of League City, TX; her nieces and nephew Lane Wood, Reagan Stevens and Harper Stevens; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, family members and close friends. A Celebration of Landra’s Life will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Paul Ann Church in San Angelo.

Landra was so giving and selfless, that even after death her final act of love for others was through organ donation which has already saved two people’s lives. Her bright shining light and love will continue to live on in her family and in others forever! We will dearly miss her!

Mary Augusta Bloodworth

Mary Augusta Bloodworth died in San Angelo, Texas on November 1st, 2024. She is the third child of William Allen Bloodworth and Frances Branch Bloodworth. Her father was in the Foreign Service and Mary was born in Rangoon, Burma on January 1, 1954. Her childhood was spent in Burma, Thailand, Ghana, Liberia and Nepal. This exposure to different cultures helped form the basis of her core values.

Mary became a staunch feminist, believing in equal rights for women, people of color, and people with disabilities. She did not tolerate discrimination in any form and became an activist for various causes. History, politics and world cultures interested Mary and she read widely on these topics. After attending Kansas State University, she graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Journalism. Mary then obtained a Master’s in Public Administration from Angelo State University in 2005. In 1992 Mary was hired by San Angelo State School. She was respected and advanced steadily. She was a great model for honoring the choices of the people she served. She became a team leader for individual and system planning. Mary retired in 2009.

Mary’s hobbies included collecting cookbooks and cooking with an affinity for foreign cuisines. She spent many hours playing bridge. She became a Silver Life Master in 2018 in duplicate bridge. Over the years Mary shared her love and home with many wonderful cats who enriched her life greatly.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, brother Bill Bloodworth, and nephew Robbie Bloodworth. She is survived by her sister Barbara Gilbreath, her nephew John Gilbreath IV (Cuatro) of San Angelo, her former sister-in-law Karen Stingley, niece Gina Bloodworth, great nephew John Gilbreath V (Cinco) and many cousins.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and home health providers who extended Mary’s life on many occasions, and special recognition to Michele Hester-Reyes, Mary Jane McCord, Joyce Hiney and Manuela Foreman for their friendship and compassion.

The celebration of Mary’s life will be Saturday, November 30th at 10 am at Harper Funeral Home, 2606 Southland Blvd, San Angelo, Texas. Donations in Mary’s name may be made to a charity of your choice or to the San Angelo Fire Department in appreciation for their many calls in response to her needs.

Lawrence James Semik

Lawrence James Semik, age 72, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024. Born in Detroit, Michigan on November 26, 1951, to Frank and Bernice Semik, Larry, affectionately known to many as "Mick," graduated from Redford Union High School in 1969 after attending St. Agatha School.

After high school, Larry proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he dedicated 20 years of service, retiring as a Master Sergeant (E7) in 1989. During his distinguished military career, he served two tours at Kunsan Air Base in Korea. His service was not just a job but a calling, and he remained a devoted member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1815 in San Angelo. His unwavering loyalty to his country and to his fellow service members will always be remembered.

In 1975, Larry married Laurabeth Messimer, and together they had two daughters. Later in life, he was blessed to find love again with his wife, Kalaka Semik.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bernice Semik; his grandparents, Jim and Laura Pegg; and his brother-in-law, Claude.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kalaka Semik; his daughters, Cassandra Lopez and Carmen Semik; his step-son, Thanet Intirach; and his cherished grandchildren, Raelyn, Yevamena, and Valhalla. He is also survived by his siblings: Tom (Deborah) Semik, Karen Spoor, Laurie (William) Sheffer, Mike (Henrietta) Semik, Frank (Julie) Semik, and Chris (Mary) Semik, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A Memorial Service celebrating Larry’s life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel in San Angelo.

Eddie Mae Economidis

Eddie Mae Economidis, of Flower Mound, Texas, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born January 31, 1935, in San Angelo to Frank and Flossie (Schiller) Newman.

Eddie Mae grew up the youngest of 5 children. At an early age, her family’s home was washed away in the San Angelo flood of 1936. The Red Cross provided her family a piece of land on the northwest side of San Angelo – now the corner of North Garfield and North streets – and an old railroad caboose car. A house and a home was built on that piece of land around that old caboose (which served as the house’s kitchen). Little did anyone realize that her family – her parents, her own family, and all of her brothers’ and sisters’ families – would all grow up and live within a two-block radius of that piece of land for the next 86 years!

In 1954, Eddie Mae met, with the help of her sister-in-law, Lois Newman, the man who was to be the love of her life, Gregory Economidis, while she was working at a Safeway grocery store. After their marriage, they built a house, with the help of her father and other family members, on North Garfield, just a block away from where she grew up. They raised their family and lived in that house for 67 years of their 68 years of marriage.

Eddie Mae was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Frank Newman and Leroy Newman, sisters, Margaret O’Neal and Jean Russell, son-in-law Marvin Boyd, and husband, Gregory (in August of 2022).

She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Boyd of San Angelo, and son John Economidis and his wife Elaine of Flower Mound; Six grandchildren, who brought her great joy, Michael Economidis and his wife Christen of Lubbock, Texas; Melissa Nash and her husband Chad of North Richland Hills Texas; Thomas Economidis and his wife Kristen of Bealeton, Virginia; James Economidis and his wife Jordan of Northlake, Texas; John Mark Economidis and his wife Jessica of Trophy Club, Texas; and Matthew Boyd of Keller, Texas. She had 16 great grandchildren; Eden, Shiloh, Judah, and Simeon Economidis of Lubbock, Texas; Sophie, Eva, and Mia Economidis of Bealeton, Virginia; Lucy, Eleanor, Margaret, June, and Peter Economidis of Northlake, Texas; and Jack, Leo, Gabriel, and Lola Economidis of Trophy Club, Texas.

While Eddie Mae was known for her quiet nature and preference for the comfort of her home, she was a sweet and loyal friend to many, and her passing leaves a deep void in the lives of those who knew her. Above all, Eddie Mae was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherished her family deeply and found immense joy in spending time with her loved ones.

Raised in the Christian faith, Eddie Mae's spiritual journey took a profound turn in March 1986 when she came to personally know Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, a commitment that shaped the remainder of her life. Her faith was a quiet but unwavering source of strength and peace.

The Pallbearers will be Michael Economidis, Thomas Economidis, James Economidis, John Mark Economidis, Matthew Boyd, and David Antle. Honorary Pallbearer will be Melissa Nash.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff and the residents at Pinewood Hills Independent Retirement Living, as well as her caregivers, Crystal Bridges, Leah Frye, and Jackie Archer, for their compassionate and loving care. They also wish to thank the staff of Concho Hearts Hospice, especially Courtney Kennedy, Kodi Venable, and Misty Hodges, for their care, support, and kindness during her final days.

Family and friends are invited to a Visitation on Thursday (November 21st) evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Harper Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held the following morning (Friday, November 22nd) at 10 a.m. at Harper Funeral Home, followed by a burial at Fairmount Cemetery. Pastor Mark Dallalio, Northside Baptist Church, Carrollton, Texas, will officiate the service. Pastor Chris Sweet, Grace Temple Baptist Church, San Angelo, will deliver the Eulogy.

Arthur F. "Rod" Harris

Arthur F. "Rod" Harris was reunited with his wife Marilyn after he passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024 at a local hospital. He was 87.

Rod was born July 16, 1937 in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Arthur and Frances (Pearl) Harris. He was the oldest of six children.

After high school, Rod enlisted in the Air Force. He was given two options--a base in upstate New York or Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Rod said he'd had enough of New England winters, and he was a Texan the rest of his life.

Much to his regret, he scored high on a test for Morse code and that's how he was utilized in the military. He told stories of listening to the World Series on the radio with his fellow airmen, being stationed in Libya and spending time in Europe.

Rod was eventually transferred to Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, where he met the woman that would become his wife, Marilyn Schwartz, at a Valentine's Day party.

They were married for 63 years and had three children, Randy, Debbie and Mike.

Rod was also an important father figure to his grandchildren, always pointing them in the right direction with good advice, while setting an example of how to be a man of character.

Rod and Marilyn were lifetime members of Holy Angels Church.

He graduated from San Angelo College and Angelo State University with several degrees, including a Master's in Business Administration. Rod worked for many years at GTE before retiring in 1993.

Rod loved traveling with his wife, and they visited every state except Alaska, along with numerous countries. Their favorite destination was Las Vegas and he made his final trip there last May. He also loved to go back home every year to visit Rhode Island for family and food.

Rod enjoyed golfing and played until he was physically unable to play anymore. He proudly had three hole-in-ones during his life. Another one of his favorite pastimes was discussing why Democrats are so misguided.

After his wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Rod soldiered on and took care of her while taking over organizing Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter events at their house. The upcoming holidays won't be the same without him.

Rod was kind and generous to his family, and he ensured every one of his great-grandchildren had a college fund.

He loved his family very much. He was a man of integrity and he lived a full and good life. He will be deeply missed.

Rod was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn; son Mike; sisters Bernice Croce, Dorothea Hayden and Cheryl Davis; and brother Edward.

Rod is survived by his son Randy Harris (Becky); daughter Debbie and husband David Wood; brother Robert Harris and wife Mickey; sisters-in-law Joanie Schwartz Leaver and Cathy Schwartz; grandsons Paul Harris, Dillon Wood and wife Kristyn, and Dalton Wood; great-grandchildren Liam, Edison, Adalee, James, Oliver, Cecilia and Penelope; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins around the country.

Graveside service will be on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Rebecca Vada Miller

Rebecca Vada (Christian) Miller, of Houston, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 16, 2024, at the age of 76. She was born January 18, 1948, in Beckley, West Virginia to the parents of James and Irma (Johnston) Christian (both deceased). She is survived by her children David Crawford, Sandra Mosley, and Steven Johnston. Her grandchildren Jessica (Crawford) Steffy, and her husband Richard Steffy, Tasha (Crawford) Calder, Chrystal Mosley, Derek Johnston, and Gregory Johnston, Her Greatgrandchildren, Ryann Steffy, Collin Steffy, Jordynn Steffy, Jonathan Calder, Aries Johnston, Jade Johnston, Schyler Johnston, Jayce Delamontte, Zayden Johnston, Aiden Johnson, Marilyn Johnston, and Gregory Johnston Jr.

She has four siblings Barbara (Christian) Brewer and her husband Larry Brewer of Indiahoma Oklahoma, John Thomas Spencer of Nevada, Debra (Christian) Leffler of Lawton Oklahoma, and Terry Lee Spencer of Delaware. She had 20 nieces and nephews. She was loved by many friends and was involved in the church.

Becky became a mother at a young age, put herself through night school and had always worked hard to provide for her children she dearly loved. Becky liked to go camping, fishing, and dancing. Even after being confined to a wheelchair, she would speak of wanting to dance with her great grandchildren. She is now dancing before the Lord.

A celebration of her life will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Harper Funeral Home with Chunky Nelms officiating.

“You have turned for me my mourning into dancing. You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness. To the end that my glory may sing praise to you and not be silent. O Lord, my God, I will give thanks to you forever. “
