SAN ANGELO David Vance, 54 , died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 . Visitation will be held all day, 9:00a.m. to 8:00p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Shaffer Funeral Home with family present from 4:00-6:00p.m. Graveside services will be held at 10:00a.m., Monday, March 30,2015 in Grape Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home/Grape Creek.
Krissy and Shawnna remember how David loved to go dancing and have fun. David loved all of his family and friends very much. David enjoyed the work he did painting and the people he worked with. David never had a lot of materialistic things but truly wanted those close to him to live a happy life. He had good intentions and a huge heart. David was the definition of "happy- go-lucky".
He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Nancy Vance.
Left to remember him are his brother and sister in law James and Donna Vance, daughter and son in law, Krissy and Bobby Morton, daughter and son in law, Shawnna and Jeremy White, 3 beautiful grandchildren, Taylor, Colby and Jaycee. A special niece and nephew, Kaylee and Robert. Also many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Cynthia Dickerson

Cynthia Lou Wayne Goodman Dickerson, 49, of San Angelo, TX. passed away peacefully with her children, grandchildren, and parents by her side, Tuesday March 24, 2015. 
She was preceded in death by her sister, Victoria Beise, and brother, E.R. Farris. She is survived by her parents Bob and Louise Robison, brother Jimmy Fiveash, husband of twenty-two years Craig Dickerson, four children Lashay Little, Paige Smith, Caleb Dickerson, Cyvannah Dickerson, and five grandsons; Shaun, Devhaun, Dezaiah, Azlan, and Draylon, and many nieces and nephews.
Cynthia was a great teacher to her grandchildren who truly loved and adored her. She will be loved and missed by all. 
Visitation will be all day Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the funeral home with family present from 6-8p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Southwest Blvd with Lance Skidmore officiating. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.

Shirley V. Alford

Shirley V. Alford, 85, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in San Angelo.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M., - 8:00 P.M., Friday, March 27, 2015 at Johnson's Funeral Home. The Graveside service will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Shirley was born October 14, 1929 in Brownwood, Texas to Charles Davis and Josephine Sandlin Bowden. She grew up in the Brownwood area and graduated from Brownwood High School. Shirley married Charles A. Alford on July 23, 1948 in Brownwood Texas and they shared 54 beautiful years of marriage together before Charles preceded her in death in 2002.
Shirley began a career at the San Angelo Standard Times as a reporter in 1961. During her tenure at the Standard Times she generated numerous columns which endeared her to many readers. "By The Way" and "Action Time" were among her more popularly read columns.
Shirley retired from the Standard Times in 1994 but never stopped writing. Early in retirement she discovered personal computers, email, the internet, and Facebook. She loved using the "new technology" to maintain a lively, almost daily correspondence with friends and family from California to Alabama, wearing out several PCs along the way. Visitors would always find her in "the office pecking away".
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, and her sister Sharla Lee. She is survived by her loving family, sons, Joe Alford and Karen Tims, of San Angelo and Jim Alford, of San Angelo; her Grandchildren, Aaron Alford and his wife Sarah, of Cibolo, TX, Sandra Englert and her husband Jason, of Fredericksburg, TX, Kevin Tims and his wife Rachel, of Knickerbocker, and Tammy Gully, of San Angelo; her great grandchildren, Quinn and Davis Englert, of Fredericksburg, TX, Katelyn Alford, of Cibolo, TX, Samantha and Austin Tims, of Knickerbocker, TX, and Layton and Ryan Gully, of San Angelo; her Sister, Maggie Page, of California; and her special cousin, Judy Faber, of San Angelo.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff on 4th Floor South at Shannon Medical Center and to Dr. Melissa Powell for all of the loving care given to Shirley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "Green House" at Sagecrest Alzheimer's Health Care Facility in San Angelo.

Henry A. Schraer

Henry A. Schraer age 89 of San Angelo, Tx. went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 23, 2015.
He was born to Henry and Mary Mueller Schraer on April 1, 1925 in Moulton, Tx. In 1926 he moved with his family to Rowena, Tx. where he grew up and worked on the family farm with his father and brothers.
Henry enlisted in the Army on Feb. 11, 1945 at the age of 21. He achieved the rank of Sergeant while serving in the Europe Theater. For his service to his country he was awarded the Good Conduct Metal, Victory Metal and the Army of Occupation Metal.
Henry married Laverne Woods in Fort Pierce, FL on July 15, 1954. He worked in San Angelo, Tx. as a carpenter, farmer, a manager for the City Sewer Dept., a construction foreman for Seidel, Inc., and a test car driver for Goodyear Proving Grounds. He and Laverne also lived in Florida for a time where he worked in sales.
Henry and Laverne loved, honored and cherished each other for 56 years until her death in 2010. They also cherished their loving family, son Jeffrey T. Schraer and wife Diane of Plano, Tx., grandchildren Geraldo, Brachel, Priscilla and Emerey, 12 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank, Arnold and Ervin Schraer, sisters Elizabeth Gerngross and Madeline Seidel.
Please join the family in a celebration of Henry's life. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., March 27, 2015 at Johnson's Funeral Home chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday March 28, 2015 at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Greenwell, celebrant. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Cemetery.

Funeral services for Annie Hejl Wanoreck, 97, of San Angelo, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery in Wall. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel.You may send the family condolences online at johnsons-funeralhome.com.Mrs. Wanoreck passed away Monday, March 23, 2015, at her home in San Angelo.She was born July 26, 1917, to the late Jim and Annie Dusek Hejl in Taylor, Texas. Annie married Edward ""Ed"" Wanoreck Sr. on October 12, 1935, in San Angelo. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, San Angelo and the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed farming for many years and later spent countless hours in her garden and yard. Her hard work and pride in her yard were awarded with being recognized twice with having the best yard in San Angelo even.Annie's strong will, character and faith along with her independent spirit will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons Ed Wanoreck Jr. and Eugene Wanoreck Sr.; and siblings Betty Hejl Bubenik and Jerry Hejl.Survivors include her grandchildren, Sandra Watson, Diane Goble, Michael Wanoreck, Eugene Wanoreck Jr., Judy Odell, Gary Wanoreck, and Debra Hoelscher; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; siblings Elsie Hejl Moeller, Sadie Hejl Havlak, Ruby Hejl Bryant, Dorothy Hejl Harmon, Stanley Hejl, Mary Ann Hejl Harmon, Ervin Hejl and Lorene Hejl Snodgrass; as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.A special thank you to her niece, Shirley Henderson, for the loving care given to Annie during her last days

Robert E. Meltom

Robert “Bob” E. Melton, 74, of San Angelo passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at a local care center.
Per Bob’s requested, his body was donated to science and there will be no services at this time. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Bob was born February 13, 1941 to Curtis and Pauline Melton in Brownwood, Texas. He joined the Navy where he was a journalist and soon after he married Marion in Honolulu, Hawaii. He retired after 20 years of service in the Navy. He worked at Albertson’s and retired. He loved to read, write, and publish books. He was a great friend to all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his wife, Marion Melton of Nashville, Tenn.; sons, James and Carl Melton of Nashville, Tenn.; son, Samuel Melton and his wife Ruth of Brownwood, Tx; brother, William “Billy” Melton and wife Bonita of Waco, Tx; sister, Jeanette Nulf of Albany, Or; grandchildren, Chancery Melton and Newland Melton both of Brownwood, Tx; cousins, Voncile Spurlock Guthrie of Brownwood, Tx; Adele Vivian Valle’ of Colton, CA; Edwin “Eddie” Valle’ of Chula Vista, CA; Terry Smith and husband Chuck of Zepher, Tx. And significant and longtime life partner of 32 years, Steve Perez.
Special “Thanks” to Dr. John Harvey, Dr. Anthony DeMory, Dr. John Cargile, Dr. Ty Hughston, Dr. Buddy Flynn and all the nursing staff on 4 South at Shannon Medical Center.

Darat Panadet Brennan

Darat Brennan, 68, of San Angelo, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015 in San Angelo. Darat was born in Buriram, Thailand on April 6, 1946. She spent her childhood growing up there and in July of 1969, she met her future husband, CMSgt (Ret) James A. Brennan, and they have been together ever since. She moved to the Philippines in February 1973 and left for San Antonio, Texas in September of 1981. In September of 1989, they both relocated to San Angelo and stayed here after his retirement in August 1995. She loved the role of an AF spouse and was always there to offer help
and assistance to other dependents.

In February of 1998 she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Instead of quitting, she fought through four surgeries and led a normal life since. A special thanks to Dr. Chris Barnett and his staff and Dr. Duarte and his staff for the most amazing last 17 years. She never quit and kept on.

She is survived by her husband, Jim and numerous relatives in Thailand. She also has made numerous friends and in-laws from Ireland and England, her new relatives.
She was loved by all.

A special word of thanks is deserved by the following: Oratai, Dyan, T. Jonathan, Leila & Landon; Mike and Becky; Pat and Patti; John and Margarit; Neuro/Stroke Unit at Shannon Hospital; House of Hope Hospice; Faith Garcia from Comfort Keepers and the staff of San Angelo Home Health.

Memorials should be given to Meals for the Elderly, her favorite charity. Visitation was held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Johnson's Funeral Home. A separate Buddhist service will be conducted at a later date at the Temple in San Antonio. You may send the family condolences online at www.johnsons_funeralhome.com .
