She graduated from Reagan County High School and Angelo State University. She taught in both the Irion and Reagan County school districts. Jo Ann came from a family of educators. Her dad, Ben, was Superintendent of Reagan County, and her mother, Frances, taught at RCISD for over 35 years. The family would like to thank Cherrie Warriner and Hospice of San Angelo for the wonderful care they provided for Jo Ann. The family is so grateful for the many friends and family who have been with us during this time. A very special appreciation goes to Jo Ann's sister-in-law and dear friend Evelyn McKinney. Donations may be made to Hospice of San Angelo or your favorite charity.

"God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put His arms around you and whispered, "Come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you as you slowly slipped away. And though we loved you dearly we couldn't make you stay. Your golden heart stopped beating. Your tired hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best."
