Galen Ray Weiershausen

03/04/2026 - 10:18 , by TKing09

Galen Ray Weiershausen, 70, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 2, 2026, in San Angelo. Galen was born July 27, 1955, in Ysleta, TX to Erwin Walter and Carolyn Behrends Weiershausen. He grew up in San Angelo, Texas and graduated from Central High School. After high school, he attended Angelo State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in AG Science. Galen workednumerous jobs in his lifetime. He was one of the original EMT’s that started working for the San Angelo Fire Department. He also farmed and ranched in the family business with his father. Galen became a talented carpenter and started his companies, Angelo Cabinets and later, Benchmark Homes. He met and later married the love of his life Nancy Ann Ferguson on August 19, 1989, and they shared 36 wonderful years. Together they raised two children, Cody and Taylor in San Angelo. In his spare time, when he wasn’t building great homes, Galen loved to go fishing, trapping and hunting. Anyone who knew Galen, knew on any given day you could find him on a lake with a fishing pole in his hand. He especially loved competing in tournaments with his buddies through bass clubs and other fishing trails. However, nothing brought him more joy than watching Cody and Taylor compete in sports from childhood through high school years. Whether you needed a laugh or life advice, you could count on him to welcome you with quick wit, plentiful stories, and a how-to guide for anything you needed. His work ethic and stubbornness was unmatched and there’s too many qualities to name that will be missed by those that loved him. Galen is survived by his parents, Erwin and Carolyn Weiershausen, of San Angelo; his wife, Nancy Weiershausen, of San Angelo; his children, Cody Weiershausen and his wife Taylor, of San Angelo and Taylor (Weiershausen) and Tyler O’Bryan, of San Angelo; his grandchildren, Everett, Emerson and Easton Weiershausen and one more on the way, Collins O’Bryan; his sister, Karen Hamlin, of San Angelo; and numerous nieces and nephews plus two special childhood friends, Tony Jones and Mike Hensley. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Friday, March 6, 2026, at Harper Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Harper Funeral Home. The burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. The family requests that donations be made to M.D. Anderson Medical Center or the Shannon Oncology Center.

Sammy Lee Goodloe Sr.

03/04/2026 - 09:13 , by TKing09

With heavy hearts and thankful spirits for a life well lived, we honor the memory of Sammy Lee Goodloe Sr., a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and grandfather whose roots ran deep in Big Lake, Texas. Born on February 4, 1951, and called home on February 26, 2026, his life was marked by faith, grit, laughter, and a steadfast love for his family and community.

Known for his easy smile, steady handshake, and unwavering faith, Sammy left a lasting mark on everyone who crossed his path. For 58 years, he worked in and around the oil fields of Big Lake, believing in honest work, long days, and taking care of his own. He started out with a roustabout gang, later drove trucks hauling oil and water, took early retirement from Marathon Oil as a dedicated pumper, and later retired from Discovery Natural Resources as a respected foreman. Long before and in between, he was a hard worker in every sense of the word- busting suds, mowing lawns, and doing whatever it took to provide. He showed up daily with grit, determination, and humor.

He was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Demetria; his son, Sammy Jr., whom he carried in his heart every single day; and his beloved parents, Maurice and Betty Goodloe.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Toni (lovingly known as “Mama G”)whom he married on June 1, 2001. Together they built a beautiful life at “The Ranch” in Burnet, Texas, surrounded by their cherished fur babies, Cha Cha, Peanut, and Scrappy. He is also survived by his children: Shawn, Tammy, Ebony, Sarah, Mandy, and Will; his loving brother, Billy Rose; and a wide circle of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends who were blessed to call him theirs.

Family meant everything to him. Summers and family reunions were spent at Fort Clark Springs in Brackettville, Texas, gathering at “The School Yard,” sharing stories, laughter, and honoring their heritage. As a direct descendant of the Black Seminole Indians and connected to the scout association, he carried deep pride in his roots and passed that legacy on with honor.

When he wasn’t working, you could find him riding his road motorcycle down an open highway, tending a smoker full of the best BBQ around, perfecting his hot sauce recipe, or stirring a pot of menudo made with love. And if it was a sunny day, chances were he was on the golf course. To his golfing buddies he was affectionately referred to him as “Goodie” and “Goodie Two Shoes”. He was more than a playing partner. He was the storyteller in the cart, the encourager on the green, and the friend who made every round better.

His servant’s heart extended beyond family and friends. He was awarded a Red Cross Certificate of Merit for saving a child’s life after finding a mother in distress as her child choked on a piece of candy. Without hesitation, he stepped in just as he always did steady, calm, and courageous.

Above all, he was a man of faith. His life was a testament to simple, enduring truths: work hard, love your family, help your neighbor, and keep your faith close. He trusted the Lord through every season and now rests in the peace he so often spoke about.

In true Southern fashion, we won’t say goodbye, just “see you later, Goodie.” We take comfort knowing he’s found the finest fairway in Heaven, where the greens are true, the sun is warm, and the company is everlasting.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Visitation will be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 501 S California Ave, Big Lake, Texas, on March 7, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1:30 pm.

Patrick Chase McPhaul

03/03/2026 - 10:44 , by TKing09

Patrick “Chase” McPhaul, also known as “Prep” to many, of Big Lake, went to the arms of Jesus February 26, 2026, at the age of 42. He was born on June 17, 1983, in Colorado City, TX, to Rick and Tracey (Gassiot) McPhaul of Big Lake, TX.

Chase’s siblings include a brother, Calen McPhaul, and sister Callie (McPhaul) McNeese who were blessed to have him as an older brother to look up to. He started his early years in Colorado City, where he enjoyed golf, basketball, and his favorite being baseball. He had many friends and family there, and those friends he still held close for all of these years. At 8 years old he and his family moved to Big Lake. Here he kept on with his love for golf and baseball, but this is also where his love for sheep began. He won many awards through 4H with his best being his big Houston win. He made a great group of friends who to this day became more like family to him. Chase graduated from Reagan County High School in 2001.

He went on to pursue his career in Agriculture, starting out at Howard College, in Big Spring. He was on the livestock judging team there and transferred to Texas Tech to finish his bachelor's degree in Ag Leadership. He was also on the meat judging team at Texas Tech. After graduating he received his master's from Texas A&M Kingsville and began his career as the Crockett County 4H agent. He enjoyed his time and the people he met in Ozona but got back to his Big Lake roots as the Reagan County 4H agent where he has worked ever since. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Big Lake. He was a big part of the community and earned the Horizon award from the Chamber of Commerce.

Chase started dating the love of his life, Lauren (Tarvin) McPhaul, and they married in a beautiful ceremony at her parent's ranch on December 27, 2008. They have two amazing kids together, Raider and Ramsey McPhaul. He loved his family with everything he had and worked hard for them. He was a great daddy; he pushed Raider to always be the best he could be and always knew how much potential he had in all he loved. His Ramsey had him wrapped around her finger, he loved his girl!

One of his favorite things in life was the stock show world. He was on the stock show committee for the Sandhills Stock Show and also an official for the Collegiate Livestock Contest in San Antonio. He judged in many different towns and states. He loved having the mic in his hand to give his reasons for animals. Anyone that knew Chase knew that they could count on him for help with their animals. To sit back and watch the amount of people that went up to him at stock shows, to get advice on their animals, was so neat to see. Chase loved a good finewool. He enjoyed picking sheep out for his son, his county kids, his family, friends, or anyone that wanted his help. His love for sheep moved into him and his best friend, Sam Silvers, raising sheep and taking over Maddog Sheep Company.

When he was young, he loved to stand up on the fireplace and sing George Strait's “All My Exes Live in Texas,” with his cowboy hat on. He loved his rocking horse so much that he would rock himself to sleep on it. Chase was known for how he dressed. Since he was little, he always had to wear the nicest clothes, which gave him the nickname “Prep.” His love for Texas Tech ran strong. Chase had a deep love for many. He could light up any room he walked in with his smile and personality. He had a way of being the entertainment without even trying to be through his stories, jokes, sayings, and hand motions. He spent his extra time with family, friends, at the barn, at the farm, or on the golf course. He loved a good money match at the golf course and made some forever friends through golf.

Chase is survived by his loving wife and kids, Lauren, Raider, and Ramsey McPhaul. His parents, Rick and Tracey McPhaul. His siblings Calen and wife Brianna McPhaul, Callie and husband Garrett McNeese. His nieces and nephews Baylor, Kynlee, Witten, Oaklen, Willa Grace, Colsen, Berkley, and Tenley.
