Idolina Edith "Edie" Chapa Sanchez

Idolina Edith (Edie) Chapa Sanchez, of San Angelo, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, in her home October 4, 2020 at the age of 84.  
Edith was born in Azuca, Tamaulipas, Mexico on May 20, 1936. Edith lived in San Angelo, Texas and attended Sam Austin Elementary and Edison Junior High. In 1958 she attended vocational nursing school where she obtained an LVN license. She was a loving and caring nurse for 61 years which 42 of those years were spent with Shannon Hospital.  
Edith was a “small town” girl who relished in the simple things in life. Always gentle and kind, personable and loved by all that had the privilege of having her in their life. She was known to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren as “ganny girl”. She was steadfast in her faith and her love for Jehovah God.  
A one true “Beautiful Soul”. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; Lorenzo and Clara Chapa, brothers; Rudy, Pete and Lorenzo Jr. Chapa, and beloved sister; Elena Chapa Balli. 
Edith was survived by her loving husband, Rudy Sanchez of 48 years, 6 children; Debi Sims and husband Victor, Lisa Lopez, Ginny Lopez and husband Henry, Beth Dominguez and husband Russell, Rudy Sanchez and wife Rina and Amy Sanchez and husband Gabriel Gonzales, 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 11 siblings; Olivia Chapa, John Chapa, George Chapa, Elizabeth Martinez, Rebecca Lopez and Christina Soto, 30 nieces and nephews and 52 great nieces and nephews. 
Services for our beloved mother will begin with a visitation from 12:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Harper Funeral Home with her Funeral beginning at 2:00 P.M.

Robert Dewey Simpson

Robert Dewey Simpson was born September 15, 1930 in Pope County Arkansas at his Aunt Mabel's dog trot cabin in the community of Gumlog near Russellville, Arkansas to Buel R. Simpson and Luella Munford Simpson. His family later moved to Russellville. He died at his home with his family near on Friday, October 2, 2020. 
He graduated from high school in Russellville and attended Arkansas Tech there before joining the Navy. After his tour of duty, Robert attended and graduated from the University of Arkansas. He returned to Russellville and began his career with the Telephone industry working for several small companies and ending up at General Telephone Company in San Angelo. He qualified as a Certified Public Accountant in 1961. 
His faith was very important to him and he served as a deacon in several Baptist Churches. He was always ready to do any job needed. His last years were spent at Southland Baptist Church. 
Robert joined the Lion's Club in Russellville in 1957 and continued to be active in the Lions in San Angelo and Texarkana. He was a member of the East Angelo Lions Club for thirty-five years serving in many capacities. He particularly liked working with the Texas Lions Camp for Children. He was honored to be declared a Melvin Jones Fellow for dedicated humanitarian services. 
After retiring, Robert began his second career raising cattle on the family land near Fort Chadbourne. This was a happy period which he continued until he was 88. 
Robert worked for many years with The Special Olympics of Texas, and he and his daughter Stacy traveled to state and area meets. 
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Buel and Luella Simpson and his daughter Susan Simpson. 
Robert is survived by his wife, Linda and three children: Bob Simpson (Pat), Lita Bradley (Paul), and Stacy Simpson. Grandchildren: Laura Robichaux (John,) Lennon Simpson, Brandon Davis (Rachel) and Jennifer Davis. Great Grandchildren: Erik Robichaux, Ezra Uriegas, Eli and Ethan Davis, Cali and Kaden Davis. 
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 5, 2020, at Hayrick Cemetery in Coke County. 
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Water for All in care of Southland Baptist Church.

Jose Jesus Ramos, Jr.

Jose Jesus Ramos II, 74,  passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 from a longtime illness of diabetes and Alzheimer’s.

Public viewing will from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday, October 4, 2020, with the Rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Mass will be 10:00 AM Monday, October 5, 2020, at St Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Joey Faylona, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Ramos was born June 5, 1946 in El Paso to Jose Jesus Ramos Sr. and Eulojia Ramos. Joe was married to the love of his life, Dolores Ramos for 46 years. Joe served in the US Navy as a radioman on the USS Buckley during the Vietnam War. Joe’s legacy of Expertise will live on at Tejas Mfg. Co. Joe worked for Levi Strauss for several years. Moving from one plant to another where his expertise was needed, he worked in San Angelo, El Paso, and San Antonio. He loved to play golf with all his friends and of course socialize with them afterwards.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores Ramos of the home, a son, Jason Ramos of San Angelo; and two grandchildren, Jason Cory Ramos and Jade Ali Ramos both of San Angelo. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Joe Ramos, III.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Springs Memory Care and Hospice for all their kind care and attention. Joe and Dolores would like to especially thank their grandson, Cory for his loving care and many cherished walks they took together while Cory patiently waited for his grandpa Joe to catch up.

Jimmy Ray Gideon

Jimmy Ray Gideon of Miles, TX., died Sept. 29 at Cross Country Healthcare in Brownwood. He was 74.



****DUE TO A FAMILY EMERGENCY THE MEMORIAL SERVICE HAS HAD TO BE RESCHEDULED***

The memorial service will now be held on Saturday, October 10th at 4:00 PM at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.

Jimmy was born Oct. 16, 1945, in San Angelo. He attended high school in Ozona, Tx., and spent several years working in the oil field and as a mechanic. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the U.S. Army and was a recipient of the Bronze Star.

He lived most of his life in San Angelo and Miles and retired from Goodyear Proving Grounds after almost 30 years.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Gideon; his parents, George and Juanita Gideon; and his brother, Kenneth Gideon.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Robbi Gideon of San Angelo; his granddaughters, Erin and Rylan Gideon, both of San Angelo; his grandson, Cameron Scott Gideon of San Angelo; his son, James Gideon of Odessa; his sister, Jeanette McNamee of San Antonio; and two nephews, Craig Gideon of Georgetown, Tx., and Brett Gideon of New Mexico.

David Jaramillo age 70, died on September 30, 2020, in San Angelo.

Public viewing will be on Friday, October 9th from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. The Rosary will be said at 6:00 PM in the chapel. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 2309 S. A&M Avenue, San Angelo.

Mask must be worn during the rosary, mass and during the military honors following the mass. 

Those honored to serve as his pallbearers are Alisandro M. Jaramillo Jr., Rey Sarmiento, Ariel Sarmiento, Fernando C. Aguirre Sr., Fernando C. Aguirre Jr., Ron Cline. Joe Smallcomb, Steve Haidinger, Fil Salamanca, and Jesse Stout.

Both the rosary and mass will be live-streamed. Please check back here on Thursday for links to each of the services scheduled. The links will go live 5 minutes prior to service time.

David was born on September 18, 1950, in Granite City, Illinois to his parents Alisandro M. and Emma Rangel Jaramillo. He had a big family of brothers and sisters, many younger than him. David helped guide and mentor them throughout their lives. During high school he was part of the Army ROTC, once he joined the Air Force in 1971 he was promoted and retired in 1996 as Master Sergeant-with two careers: Broadcast Television for AFRTS & Radio Electronics Intelligence Communications. He also proudly served during Desert Storm and was an engineering Non-Commissioned Officer in the Air Force. After his 24 year military career ended, he then worked for 15 years as a Federal Civilian Electronic Engineer, officially retiring in 2013. During that time he earned his Bachelors of Science-Electronics Management in 2001.

David met his wife Mercy, from Manila, Philippines in 1974 at Carswell Air Force Base Fort Worth, and were married in San Antonio on November 20, 1976, The couple had a daughter Elizabeth, born November 5,1977. During his retirement they enjoyed traveling to many places. He happily served his community by volunteering with his wife at Shannon Medical Center tending the front desk at Women & Children's and helped make comfort pillows for patients.

David had many talents some were expressed this through his drawings; if you ever received a snowman card it was pretty special; oil paintings & photography, some of which even made the front page of the Standard-Times.
David had many interests like gardening, Tai Chi, Yoga & lifting weights. He also enjoyed Astronomy-especially taking photos of the stars and moon from his backyard.

He was a devoted Catholic and member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. He grew close to God and always enjoyed his talks with Father Charles Greenwell.

David was a quiet, humble, kind and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. David's legacy would be to remind us to make each day count, take care of one another, be kind and positive, and never stop learning.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alisandro; his grandmother, Jennie T. Reyes, a sister, Monica Martinez; and brother-in- law Serafin Medellin and sister-in-law Carmen Simbillo.

David is survived by his wife Mercy; his only daughter Elizabeth M. Jaramillo-Aguirre and her husband Fernando C. Sr; his precious grandson, Fernando C. Jr.; his siblings, Irene Ruiz, Bill Jaramillo and his wife Loida, Maria Wichman, Alisandro M. Jaramillo Jr., Michelle Wilson and her husband Nate, and Jennie Allen; his sisters-in-law Gloria Medellin, Agapita Castañeda and her husband Porfirio, Avelina Hader and her husband Gary; his brothers-in-law, Rey Sarmiento and his wife Ofelia, Ernesto Sarmiento and his wife Jeanne and Ariel Sarmiento; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

His family will miss him deeply, especially his wife and daughter.
