Law Enforcement Drags Lake in Continued Search of Missing Kayaker

Law enforcement agencies are entering the 11th hour of search for a 20-year-old kayaker on Lake Nasworthy this afternoon, after a crash with a jet ski at approximately 6:45 p.m. Saturday.

At the moment, Game Wardens with Texas Parks and Wildlife, the San Angelo Police Department's Lake Patrol Division and a K9 unit are searching on water and land. The efforts include utilizing police boats outfitted with sonar to drag the bottom of the lake.

The crash occurred Saturday evening just before 7 p.m., when a jet skier crashed into two kayakers on the lake near the ASU lake facility. That facility is closed today.

One of the kayakers, a female, was struck and injured, but was saved by her life jacket. She was transported to a local hospital after the crash. A 20-year-old male kayaker was also hit and has not yet been found. He was not wearing a life jacket.

The search continued until approximately midnight Sunday and resumed Sunday morning at 7 a.m. As of yet, no further information has been released.

Activity on the lake this afternoon is high, with several boaters, jet skiiers and fishermen on the water.
