Teen's Death Ruled An Accidental Overdose

COLORADO CITY, TX — Three months after 16-year-old Haley Martinez was found dead inside a Colorado City home her death has been ruled an accidental overdose.

Since her body was discovered back in June, police had been unsure if she had been intentionally injected with drugs or if she had overdosed.

According to the Colorado City Police Chief Charles Rice, the autopsy does not indicate any foul play was involved. The autopsy report showed a combination of "heroin, methamphetamine, and Xanax" in Martinez’s system.

"My evidence right now does not indicate she was murdered," said Rice.

But according to Martinez’s grandmother, Vickie Harmon, even though her granddaughter had a history of drug use she believes someone intentionally injected her with drugs.

"She was murdered," said Harmon. "Haley would not shoot herself up."

According to Chief Rice, the case is not closed, but to pursue additional charges, they need someone to come forward with more details.
