Police Confirm Remains Belong to Missing Toddler

SAN ANTONIO, TX -- Late last week the San Antonio Police Department confirmed they have positively identified the remains of a missing toddler.

Back in April, authorities conducted a follow-up search of a trailer belonging to D’Lanny Chairez. During the search they located human remains that remained unidentified until last week.

For months Chairez had refused to tell authorities the whereabouts of her child, James Chairez. He had last been seen on Jan. 4

Chairez was finally arrested in March on charges of child abandonment. At that time she told authorities she wasn't ready to be a mother and that she had given James up for adoption.

During an en earlier search of the property, investigators discovered a blood-stained sheet from a crib along with a car seat, stroller, diapers, and toys for James.

DNA evidence proved then proved the human remains belong to James.

Chairez remains in custody at the Bexar County Jail. Her bond was set at $250,000 but later reduced to $150,000.
