Still hungry for their first win of the season after a heartbreaking loss in the final seconds to A&M Consolidated last week, the San Angelo Central Bobcats began conference play tonight, Oct. 16. With the Little Southwest Conference back together again, the ‘Cats dominated the Abilene High Eagles in every facet of the game. Behind five touchdown passses from quarterback Malichi Brown, the Bobcats hung 53 points on the Eagles and won their district opener, 53-32.
Following a tough defeat at the Hereford Whitefaces’ hands last week, the Lake View Chiefs opened up district play tonight, Oct. 15. Hoping for a better outing against the Fort Stockton Panthers at San Angelo Stadium, the Chiefs seemed ready. However, the inability to stop the run along with mental mistakes and multiple turnovers sunk the Chiefs’ chance at a win. Lake View gets pummeled tonight and lose their district opener, 65-28.
After a 0-2 start to the 2020 season, the San Angelo Central Bobcats sought their first win against a talented squad from A&M Consolidated on Oct. 9, 2020 in College Station. The 2-0 A&M Consolidated varsity squad was ranked #3 in the state on Maxpreps going into Friday night’s game. This was a tough opponent at an inopportune time. Sr Quarterback Malachi Brown and the rest of the ‘Cats desperately needed a better showing than the previous two weeks if they had any hope of carrying momentum into district play next week.
After a student-athlete tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, Oct. 6, all Brownwood High School varsity football-related activities involving students have been suspended until those quarantined are cleared to return to campus.
Opening the season with a rough outing against the Killeen Shoemaker Wolves last week, the San Angelo Central Bobcats looked to course-correct this week up against the Clemens Buffaloes on Oct. 2, 2020 at 7 p.m. in Schertz. This game did not go the way the Bobcats wanted, however, as penalties, turnovers, and a lack of offensive production sank their chances at the season’s first win. The Bobcats were shut out by a dominating Schertz Clemens squad, 35-0.
SAN ANGELO, TX – In a post to social media Friday morning, Angelo State Men's Basketball head coach Cinco Boone confirmed that ASU has chosen the evening of October 14th to host the program's annual Midnight Madness event to celebrate the official start of the 2020-2021 basketball season.
