SAN ANGELO, TX - The City of San Angelo has announced that the street construction on North Chadbourne is resuming after a temporary halt during the San Angelo Stock Show.
According to the city, the street is set to undergo a cost-effective process known as Full-Depth Reclamation, aimed at saving both the city and its residents "quite a bit of money."
The entire construction project is expected to take approximately six weeks to complete.
Initiated on January 8, road construction on N. Chadbourne Street has followed an outlined timeline, with preparations including adjustments to utility valves and manholes.
March is slated for the commencement of road resurfacing, with the objective of completing the work by the end of the month to ensure the road is ready for the 2024 San Angelo Rodeo in April.
Similar to the Stock Show, construction activities will be scaled back during the rodeo month, focusing on minor tasks that won't significantly disrupt traffic flow.
From May to October, intersections, valves, and manholes will be the focal points of construction efforts.
At least one traffic lane will be maintained in each direction for the project's duration.
Closures will be localized and of short duration, with businesses within the affected areas remaining open and accessible.
The project encompasses the stabilization of the roadway base layer and concrete improvements at driveways, intersections, and gutters.
Employing the FDR method, previously successful on Rio Concho Drive, the city aims to establish a more robust roadway with enhanced longevity across the entire corridor.
The official project end date is set for October 2024, and further closures will be announced as the project progresses.
