Hot and dry conditions Monday will give way to extreme wildfire danger and the threat of severe thunderstorms Tuesday in different parts of West Central Texas.
The Red Flag Warning is in effect north and east of a line stretching from Sterling City to Junction but does not include the city of San Angelo or Tom Green County.
Since January 1, 2022, Texas A&M Forest Service and local fire departments have responded to 3,018 wildfires that burned 403,711 acres. This total includes 978 wildfires in the month of March that burned 348,403 acres.
Severe thunderstorms could develop in the Big Country around the Abilene area Monday afternoon while scattered and isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible in the Concho Valley.
