NWS: Freeze Warning & Wind Chill Advisory in Effect Thursday Morning

 

SAN ANGELO – National Weather Service meteorologists Wednesday afternoon confirmed temperatures as low as eight degrees are possible beginning Thursday morning and lasting through Friday.  

The NWS office in San Angelo has issued a Freeze Warning in effect for the Concho Valley from 6 a.m. Thursday until noon on Friday.  Sub-freezing temperatures as low as eight degrees are possible.  

Dangerous temperatures this low will kill pets, crops and damage unprotected pipes. 

In addition a Wind Chill Advisory is also in effect from 6 a.m. Thursday through noon on Friday.  

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to create very low wind chills.  The cold wind chills could cause frostbite and hypothermia if precautions are not taken.  

Experts advise that everyone venturing outdoors wear layers of clothing along with gloves and hats.  Protect skin at all times.  Wind Chill Values below zero can cause frost bite is less than 30 minutes.  

This is a very dangerous and serious weather situation.  We will update this story as new information is issued by authorities.
