Excessive Heat Continues Across West Texas Through Next Week

SAN ANGELO, TX – A Heat Advisory is in effect for the Big Country, Concho Valley, and Crockett County Friday afternoon and evening. Heat index values will range between 105 and 109 degrees this afternoon.

Saturday through Thursday a Heat Advisory is in effect for most of the area. Heat indices will range between 105 and 109 degrees during the afternoon and evening hours.

Very hot temperatures will affect the area through Tuesday. Actual temperatures each afternoon will generally range from 105 to around 110 degrees across most of the area during this time.

This will bring an increased risk for heat-related illnesses to all of West Central Texas through the middle of next week.

A Heat Advisory means that hot weather conditions are occurring or expected. This will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.

Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible.

Never, ever, leave children or pets alone in enclosed vehicles, not even for a few minutes.
