Judge Booked on Five Felony Charges in Brown County

 

BROWN COUNTY, TX — The Brown County judge was arrested Monday on five felony charges, including Abuse of Official Capacity.

Alan Shane Britton, the sitting Brown County Judge, was booked into the Brown County Jail around 9:30 a.m. on November 24. Jail records show he faces charges of Abuse of Official Capacity, Tampering with Government School Record License, Hindering Apprehension/Prosecution, Assault on a Public Servant, and Tampering with a Witness in a Family Violence case.

Britton was released roughly an hour later after posting bonds totaling $30,000.

Local outlets reported that they are working to gather additional information about the allegations that led to the arrest and that Britton’s office has been contacted for comment.

Authorities have not released further details about the underlying accusations.
