SAN ANGELO, TX – The Tom Green County jury in the Cristin Bradley trial began deliberating her guilt or innocence Thursday morning.
Day 9 of the trail began on Aug. 3, 2023 with closing arguments by both parties. During the state's time, District Attorney Allison Palmer and Assistant DA Sarah Reyes reminded the jury to not fall for the defense's distraction. They told the jury that despite what the defense will say, she was the ruler of the roost on Webster street. She made decisions on who would come and go, who her daughter Destiny Harbour would see, and how the 2-month-old Brixlee would be taken care of.
The defense however, disagrees with that. Defense Attorney Thomas Jackson told the jury during his time that Bradley loved the child and was the only person trying to help the child. He claimed that this trial shouldn't even be happening because all the evidence points at the Harbour for ultimately be at fault. As an example, he questioned why Bradley's mother Betty or the father of the child Nathaniel Lee was not on trial. Jackson also brought up that this was not a capital murder case so why is Bradley being put on trial for being responsible for the child's death.
Ultimately, testimony shows that the child died from congenital syphilis, sepsis, and pneumonia. She tested positive for opiates but that is not believed to have caused Brixlee's ultimate demise. Now the jury will decide if Bradley's role led to the death of Brixlee.
If convicted Bradley could spend the remainder of her life behind bars.
