MOTHER: Murdered Sons Deserve Justice

SAN ANGELO, TX – The story of the murder of Eric Talton became more real after the mother of the slain San Angelo man spoke out to San Angelo LIVE!

Ramonna Talton, the mother of Eric and Rhyme Talton, sent a voicemail to San Angelo LIVE! asking that we share her side of the story. We gave her a call back and gather information. The following narrative was built based upon her knowledge of her son's untimely death.

Ramonna claimed her son was caught up in a family feud between her side, the Taltons, and a family called the Arambulas. The feud between the Taltons and the Arambulas is a complicated issue that involves the death of now three people, she said. The most rememberable death came in Jan. 2021. On this day Robert Arambula stabbed and killed her other son named Rhyme Talton at the Stripes Convenience Store located on South Bryant at W. Avenue J while store patron stood by and witnessed the horror. Arambula was arrested and charged with murder but a jury found Arambula not guilty because of self defense.

Ramonna believes that the murder was not self defense but was in retaliation against Rhyme. She claims that a few years prior Rhyme and a woman with whom he had a child had engaged in an argument that escalated into a fight while at a party in Sterling City. At the conclusion of the fight, the mother drove away and subsequently that night, died in a car crash. There is no report of the crash on San Angelo LIVE! The mother who died in the crash was allegedly Arambula's niece, according to Ramonna.

"He told Rhyme that day that he was going to kill him," Romonna told us. Whether this is the reason or not, Arambula did end up killing Rhyme. The story doesn't end here though. While in jail awaiting his trial, Arambula was in jail with Rhyme's brother Eric Talton. While in jail, the mother claimed that Eric told her that he made a number of threats towards him. She said the most impactful part of Eric's pleas were that he needed to get away from him because of his bragging and boastful attitude about the stabbing of Eric's brother.

At the time Eric was in the Tom Green County Jail for a motion to revoke warrant on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge that he had picked up in 2020. Once he was released, Ramonna continuously told him to be smart, hang out with the right people, and to always watch his back.

In the days leading up to Eric's disappearance, Ramonna had not been able to contact Eric. In her hopes she went to a spot on the north side, which she called a drug house, and demanded they tell her were Eric was. Unfortunately she would not get that answer until Eric's body was found outside of Junction.

The San Angelo Police department begin their investigation at that point. As of now they have no suspects.

As for Ramonna, she believes she knows who did it. She believes that Arambula paid a couple to murder her son. Ramonna alleges that a man and his girlfriend kidnapped Eric, beat him, killed him, took him to Junction, and dumped the body.

The mother told us that Eric's body when they found it was unrecognizable and that she was not allowed to see him before cremation. There was no funeral and there has been no obituary listed.

About a month after Talton's disappearance, Arambula was arrested for stealing a backpack full of baby clothes from the Walmart at 5501 Sherwood Way in September. He is awaiting trial scheduled for April 2023 and is out of jail on a $15,000 bond.
