LLANO, TX — Authorities recovered the body of an unidentified man from the Llano River on Monday evening after he was discovered by another individual fishing below the Roy B. Inks Bridge.
The Llano Police Department responded to the call around 5:15 p.m. on July 21, according to a statement released Tuesday. Due to higher-than-normal water levels, Llano Volunteer Fire Department Chief David Gilliland assembled a swift water team to assist with the recovery. A drone was also used to locate the body and document the scene prior to retrieval.
Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Wardens and the Texas Rangers supported Llano police and firefighters during the operation. The deceased is believed to be a male between 40 and 50 years old.
As of the release, no missing persons had been reported in Llano County. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the man’s identity and cause of death. Police noted the case remains under investigation and no additional information is available at this time.
City officials thanked all responding agencies and highlighted the contributions of local volunteers in handling the incident.
