5 People Indicted for Murder of Abilene Teen

ABILENE, TX – On Thursday a Taylor County grand jury indicted five people in connection to the murder of 19-year-old Megan Kirkland.

Kirkland was killed at a house party in Taylor County in August of 2020.

Currently, only one individual, George Girard Johnson Jr., has been charged with murder. According to investigators, the teen is responsible for firing the gun that killed Kirkland.

The remaining defendants have been charged with tampering with evidence.

They were identified as Stephanie Avalos, who is Johnson's mother, Kimberly Limas, Yahayra Gutierrez, and Ramon Aguirres Junior.

For months law enforcement officials interviewed dozens of people who attended the party as they attempted to find a clue that could lead them to the shooter and anyone else involved in the incident.
