Sheriff: Investigation Continues Into the Murder of 19-Year-Old Woman

ABILENE, TX – Six months after 19-year-old Megan Kirkland was killed in a house party in Abilene, her death remains under investigation.

Back in August, Kirkland was at a party when a fight broke out around 3:00 a.m. During the fight, an unidentified individual fired a gun into the air three times. According to an unnamed witness they were warning shot to stop the fight.

In response, another man pulled out a handgun and fired three shots.

"He shot 2 times and people started to really panic and pay attention and the third time he caught Megan," said the witness.

According to Taylor County Sheriff Risky Bishop, the sheriff's office has interviewed over 100 people about the case, but no murder charges have been filed at this time.

Since the investigation began only one possible shooting suspect was arrested on a drug charge. Authorities confirmed a cell phone was turned over to investigators.
