Man Jailed 38th Time on Thursday

Otis Ray Woodfin, Jr. was out on a stroll in the unit block of W. 31st St. Thursday evening, when he caught the eye of someone in the area who believed he was acting strange. Responding to the report of a suspicious subject, a San Angelo Police Officer met Woodfin and began speaking to him, but the 29-year-old wasn't making any sense and appeared to be under the influence of intoxicants.

The officer asked Woodfin to complete a series of field sobriety tests, however Woodfin declined and was transported to the county jail, deemed a danger to himself and others.

The trip to county was Woodfin's fourth this year, and third for public intoxication. Other charges from this year include criminal trespass and drug possession, and each time he has been released on personal recognizance. His record at the county jail dates back to 2003 and includes 38 stays on a variety of charges ranging from theft to drugs to assault.

Last March, he was jailed on a couple of warrants plus resisting arrest and drug possession after accidentally calling the cops on himself and refusing to permit officers to search him as he sat behind a bong. A fight ensued, and he was ultimately arrested and taken to jail. He was released the next day.

Woodfin was also jailed 10 days ago for exhibiting similar behavior at Kid's Kingdom Park and at a local Subway.

Joining Woodfin behind bars on Thursday were 27 others, eight of which were jailed for offenses alleged to have been committed within the last 24 hours. Those included three charged with theft, two charged with assault, one more charged with public intoxication and one charged with possession.

Eighteen inmates were released on Thursday.
