Man Struck and Killed by Train in Abilene

 

ABILENE, TX – A 30-year-old man was killed after being struck by a train this Friday morning, according to the Abilene Police Department.

This happened just before 10:30 a.m. near the Leggett Street crossover along North and South First Streets. Police responded to a call reporting that a pedestrian had been hit by a train.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male subject lying on the south side of the train tracks. Justice of the Peace Joiner pronounced the man dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision.

Witnesses reported that both the train and the pedestrian were traveling eastbound when the train struck the man. The deceased has been identified as Jacob Poor, 30, of Abilene.

The investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.
