San Angelo Drivers Continue to Crash in West San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX – Running a red light landed the driver of a Nissan Altima in the Shannon Emergency room Tuesday afternoon just hours, and blocks, away from the crash that shut down the loop this morning.

According to San Angelo Police Department, on Aug. 10, officers with the San Angelo Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Dallas and Howard for the report of a major crash.

When officers arrived they discovered a tan Saturn passenger car and black Nissan Altima that had crashed in the middle of the intersection. San Angelo LIVE! reporters on scene shared photos showing the Saturn being disabled in the middle of the intersection while the Nissan continued all the way into the light pole.

The officer at the scene confirmed with reporters that the Nissan Altima was heading north on Howard and ran the red light causing the crash. The Saturn was heading west on Dallas, which is a one way Street.

The driver of the Altima was injured in the crash and was taken to Shannon Medical Center via ambulance. The officer told reporters that the driver of the Saturn was not injured but was shaken up. Here is a video of the scene:

The Altima hit the light pole but no major damage was caused from the crash. Officers did say that officials would come out later today to make sure everything is working properly.

"As of right now it is unknown whether or not a citation will be issued," said Officer Espinoza. "But we had two independent witnesses that have advised that the Altima passenger car blew the red light."

Just little under two hours prior to this crash another major crash shut down the Houston Harte Expressway. For more on that click here: WATCH: Driver Critically Injured After Slamming into Back of Truck-trailer
