GRAPHIC: Disturbing Video Shows Dog Being Drug Behind Truck in West Texas

BORGER, TX – A viral video has gone around West Texas showing a dog being drug behind a truck. 

According to the Borger Police Department, on the evening of Feb. 17, 2022, officers with the Borger Police Department were dispatched to a report of a dog being drug by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, Officers were informed that the animal had been loaded into a vehicle and the vehicle had left the scene. Officers immediately began an investigation utilizing information from witnesses.

The vehicle and the animal owner were located later in the night. In a statement given to officers, the owner stated that his dogs had gotten out, and he located them at Huber Park. The owner was driving a borrowed vehicle and did not want to put them in front like he usually did in his vehicle.

The owner further advised he tied the dogs into the back of the pickup to prevent them from jumping out while he took them back to his residence. 

The owner was flagged down by witnesses and had no idea that his dog had jumped from the truck's bed and was being drug behind his vehicle. The owner immediately loaded the dog back in the vehicle and proceeded to Pampa to a veterinarian.

Proof of the veterinarian treatment was obtained during the investigation. Unfortunately, the animal had to be put down due to sustained injuries. All parties involved, including the owner, in this incident, are upset due to the circumstances and unfortunate death of the animal.

This is understandably a heart wrenching situation. Once all elements of the investigation are completed, the findings will be forwarded to the appropriate prosecutor for review and consideration of charges based on official facts of the incident.
