Wild Details Emerge About Capture of Ballinger Drive-by Shooter

BALLINGER, TX —The Runnels County Sheriff’s Office has released updated details regarding the shooting incident at the Short Stop Convenience Store.  According to the statement, only one vehicle had bullet holes in it, but the occupants were not injured.

“Ballinger had an active shooter incident last night. BPD responded quickly and was joined by Winters PD, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and Sheriff's Deputies.”

“Officers scoured the city for the shooter who was driving a small white car. The reported shooter was also texting people with threats that they would be next.”

“A few hours later, the reported shooter's vehicle was located South of San Angelo heading toward Big Lake. Dispatcher Lindy Shore saw a Reagan County Deputy near the suspect vehicle on Copsync. Thinking fast, she contacted the Deputy who located the vehicle in a matter of minutes and had the reported shooter detained ending the situation.”

“After the initial call went out, [dispatchers] were flooded with 9-1-1 calls from everyone wanting to know what was going on. Because of the emergency at hand, a few citizens that were keeping the 9-1-1 lines tied up became angry because they were being shutoff/hung-up on.”

“Please if you hear of an emergency situation do not call Dispatch just to ask what is happening. The Dispatchers will be happy to take any information and forward to Officers on the scene and they did receive a lot of information that helps us out.”
