Tom Green County Man Sentenced to 260 Years in Prison

SAN ANGELO, TX — A Tom Green County man has been sentenced to 260 years in prison after being convicted on multiple counts of possession of child pornography.

Douglas Tankersley, 54, was indicted on 13 counts of possession of child pornography, each carrying a 20-year sentence, and one count of possession of methamphetamine. Ranger Joel Callaway, who investigated the case, testified that Tankersley had more than 100 images of children between the ages of 5 and 15 being sexually assaulted.

In addition to the 260-year sentence, Tankersley was ordered to serve 730 days in state jail for cocaine possession.

According to the 51st Judicial District, Tankersley had previously been placed on 10 years’ probation in 2022. Prosecutors sought to revoke that probation, citing violations including methamphetamine use, cocaine possession and his presence in a child safety zone.

The prosecution also presented Tankersley’s criminal history, which included convictions for assault on a public servant, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and intoxicated driving. Tankersley had been convicted of intoxicated driving twice before.
