Earlier today, a San Angelo man, Gilbert Manriquez, 36, was arrested in Kerr County for the murder of a 52-year-old woman in Kerrville. The murder is being termed "a random act of violence."

At 5:47 a.m., the woman, identified as Sherry Ruth Francis, was found murdered in the The Ranch Radio Group parking lot.
Francis was attacked as she entered the building in the early hours of the morning, according to a local news source in the area. Francis had only been a morning show host at radio station for a month.
There appears to be no connection between the victim and Manriquez. Sherriff Hierholzer, of the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office, stated this appeared to be "a random act of violence."
Manriquez has an extensive police record in San Angelo, including seven assault charges that include causing bodily injury to family members since the year 2000.
In two separate cases stemming from 2002 and 2003, Manriquez assaulted a family member. According to court documents, in one incident, the victim told officers her husband, Manriquez, got angry with her for talking to a male friend on the phone. Manrquez tore the phone from the wall and struck the victim in the face, "causing her to lose consciousness and cutting her under the left eye."
The Ranch Radio Group was not available for comment, put published the following statement on their website:
"All of us at the Ranch are shocked at this random act of violence. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and loved ones. Respecting their privacy, we will not comment on any details of this tragedy."
No further details have been released at this time.

Sad, but this is the sort of thing that happens when you just keep letting them go free, time after time after time.......... Victims and their families should be able to file damage suits against judges and prosecutors for failing to protect them from repeat offenders.

Yes, I'm talking about a Judicial System that continues to fail us simply because of the cost to incarcerate long term offenders!!

PermalinkTom Green County has such a bad reputation for letting these freaks to walk on multiple offenses. For Christ sake can we get a real prosecutor who has the balls to stand up for the citizens of San Angelo and the rest of Tom Green County?
