Martina R. Garcia, 85, of San Angelo, TX passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025.

She was born on April 15, 1939 in Nueva Rosita, Mexico to Leondro Rabago and Agustina Rodriguez.

Martina Married Daniel R. Garcia Sr. and had 9 children.

Martina was known for cooking for everyone that would come by her house, garage saling, and loved having her children and grandchildren around.

Martina was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel R. Garcia Sr.; Her sons, Julio C. Garcia Sr., Daniel Garcia Jr., and Jaime Garcia; Sisters, Esperanza Aguirre and Maria De LaCruz; and her parents, Leondro Rabago, and Agustina Rodriguez.

She is survived by her children, Jose Manuel (Sylvia) Garcia, Faustino (Nancy) Garcia, Luis Armando (Diana) Garcia, Arasely Garcia, Griscelda (Rafael) Cardoso, and Sonia (Saul) Corona; along with her children; Brother, Guadalupe Rodriguez; she is also survived by 29 Grandchildren, 65 Great-grandchildren, and 9 Great-Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Gabriel's Hospice, especially Tammy Celaya and Sylvia Rodriguez.

Isidro "Chilo" Garcia, 70, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025.

Viewing will be from 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Garcia was born on May 15, 1954 in Mexico to Luis and Guadalupe Ponce Garcia. He married Dora Rivera on January 4, 1999 in San Angelo. He worked at Lone Star Beef for over 30 years. Chilo loved washing his truck, Coke and peanuts, making tamales, reading his bible and playing with the grandchildren. He was a selfless, loving husband and father who was always smiling and taking care of others. Chilo would always snack on his favorite mexican sweets.

He is survived by his wife, Dora of the home; three children, Bertha Rhine and husband Ricky, Johnny Fernandez and Jessica Martinez and Nelly Rivera all of San Angelo; six grandchildren, Alex Vega and fiance Theresa, Andrew Vega and fiance Chelsey, Alyza Fernandez and finace Jacob all of San Angelo, Joshua Vega, Melani Vega, and Aubrey Rivera; great granddaughter Luna Rae Vega; a sister, Maria Olvera of Florida; and other nieces and nephews..

Beverly Benson, 80, passed away February 16, 2025, in San Angelo.

A private family service will be at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Beverly was born April 23, 1944 in Brady, Texas, to Fred and Alta Betsill. She was raised in Doole, TX and went to school in Melvin, TX. She married Bill Benson on June 17, 1961, in San Angelo and they celebrated 62 years of marriage before his death in 2024. Beverly was a passionate antique collector and devoted mother. She was loved by neighbors and friends and couldn't go anywhere without making a new friend.

The family would like to give special thanks to neighbor Lon Colbert and friends Candi Rasberry, Laura Whisenhunt, and Clint Tinney for their dedicated friendship.

Survivors include her children Tammy Wankowski and husband Kurt of San Angelo; Billy Benson and wife Julie of Doole; Dawn Wessman and husband Tom of Bastrop; and Therran Johnson and husband Steve of San Angelo; brother-in-law Larry Benson and wife Ginny of San Angelo; brother-in-law John Seaton of San Angelo; nephew Josh Seaton and wife Leslie of New Braunfels; and cousin LaQuita Bishop and husband Ray of San Angelo. Beverly had seven grandchildren: Jerimiah Wankowski, Katherine Babcock, Kristen Brenek, Brittany Benson, Taylor Benson, Bailey McAbee, and Gentry Wessman; 13 great grandchildren, and her beloved pet, Abby Rose. Beverly is preceded in death by her parents and husband Bill Benson.

Mario "Tata" Salinas, Sr., 60, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025, in San Angelo.

Public Viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mr. Salinas was born January 29, 1965 in Del Rio to Benny and Flora Salinas. Tata has been a resident of San Angelo since he was seven years old. He had also lived in Del Rio and Snyder. Tata attended schools in San Angelo and loved playing sports. He was a welder, cook and painter. Tata loved to cook, clean, watch TV and play Bingo.

Survivors include his partner, Maria Zurita; two sons, Mario Albert Salinas, Jr., and Andrew Salinas; a daughter, Helerie Salinas Mendoza and husband Jimmy; a grandson whom he raised, Ethan Nathaniel Salinas; six grandchildren, Adrian Albert Salinas, Ian Rodriguez, Damian Rodriguez, Edwardo Rodriguez, Dillion Reyna, and Alex Salinas; six great grandchildren, Novaya Salinas, Nicholas Salinas, Noah Salinas, Maricella Rodriguez, Ariella Rodriguez, and Axton Rodriguez; a brother, Benny Salinas, Jr.; and two sisters, Lorie Salinas, and Elizabeth Salinas. Tata was preceded in death by his parents.

Billie Jean "Zaza" McCleery departed this world on February 16, 2025.

She was born on August 29, 1936, to Wayne and Frieda Rosenthal Willson. Arriving six weeks premature, she entered the world just before the historic flood of 1936. Billie was raised in San Angelo, TX, where she spent most of her life, aside from brief stays in Fort Worth and California. She graduated from San Angelo High School and later pursued business and accounting courses at Angelo State University.

Billie had a long and successful career with GTE, where she worked in various supervisory and management roles before retiring as the Budget Analyst for GTE President Buddy Langley. Even after retirement, she remained active—first as a substitute teacher and later as a travel agent, a role she loved as it allowed her to see the world. She shared her passion for travel with her family, taking her mother and granddaughters on adventures across Europe, Canada, and numerous cruises. One of her cherished memories was taking Therese to London and Paris and later treating the family to a celebratory cruise after Becca’s high school graduation.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a young mother, she taught Training Union classes for children at Park Heights Baptist Church. Over the years, she continued her spiritual journey at Trinity Baptist and Southland Baptist Church, where she was a devoted member of the Joy class.

Billie was actively involved in her community, particularly through the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She also found joy in her bridge group, cherishing the friendships it brought her.

Later in life, Billie’s greatest joy came from her great-grandchildren. She was a devoted presence at as many of their activities as possible, whether in Texas or Georgia. Known lovingly as "Zaza"—a name given to her by her first grandchild, Carrie, as a toddler—she became "Zaza" to all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their friends.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents and her uncle, Howard Willson. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Therese and Tad Emert of Robert Lee; her grandchildren, Carrie Powers of Pecos, Becca Wilson (husband Kasey) of Dahlonega, GA, Carli Powers of Georgetown, Cadi Powers of San Marcos, Jaci Wilson of Dahlonega, GA, and Kason Wilson of Dahlonega, GA.

In honor of Billie’s life, memorial contributions may be made to Rust Street Ministries.

She will be deeply missed, but her love, wisdom, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Monday, February 17, 2025, at Harper Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Harper Funeral Home. The burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.

Betty Ruth Hardegree went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the age of 94 years. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Ruby McMeekin of Big Spring, Texas, her husband Craig Hardegree of San Angelo, Texas and her second husband, Alphonse Schwartz of Grape Creek, Texas.

Mrs. Hardegree is survived by her children, Mike Hardegree of Grape Creek, Texas, Cindy Bright of Cedar Park, Texas and David Hardegree of San Angelo, Texas; her grandchildren, Gary Hardegree of Christoval, Texas, Adam Bright of Huntsville, Texas, Sarah Johnson of Leander, Texas, Rebecca Crouse of Dallas, Texas, and Matthew Hardegree of Norfolk, Virginia; and great grandchildren, Kenley Johnson and Case Johnson of Leander, Texas and Preston Bright of Huntsville, Texas. She is also survived by her siblings Jean Little of Tyler, Texas, Brenda Watts of Midland, Texas and James McMeekin of Hamilton, Texas.

Mrs. Hardegree was born in Mitchell County on April 18, 1930. Following her marriage to Craig Hardegree in 1947, they moved to San Angelo where they operated Hardegree (formerly Burley) Lumber Company and built homes for families all over west Texas for over 40 years.

Mrs. Hardegree was a member of the Southgate Church of Christ in San Angelo and the Pond Springs Church in Austin, Texas.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Harper Funeral Home at 2:00pm. Burial to follow at Belvedere Memorial Park.

Ronnie Wayne King was born in Sweetwater, Tx. On January 7, 1948, to Ruth and Howard King. It was so cold that day that all the pipes in his parents’ home froze.

In 1959 he moved with his family to San Angelo where his father and uncle opened King Bros. Chevron on the corner of Bell and Pulliam.

Ronnie met his future wife, Janet Richmond when they were teenagers making the drag on Beauregard. In 1966, they married, then moved to Texas City in 1967. In 1969 their son Kevin, his dad’s pride and Joy, was born.

Ronnie worked in service stations and truck driving until 1973 when he went to work for Arco Chemical Company in Bayport, Tx. In 1985 he transferred to Arco Alaska for 9 years. He eventually moved back to San Angelo to be around his family.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents his sister, Patricia Herode, and his nephews Sean and Brent Sullivan.

He is survived by his wife Janet, and his son Kevin both of San Angelo, His sister Karen Moore, also of San Angelo, his brothers-in-law, Dwight Richmond (Ruth) of Georgia, Patrick Richmond (Jan) of South Carolina, and sister-in-law Elizabeth Richmond of Austin, TX. Also, by his beloved nieces and nephews and their families.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Harper Funeral Home from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Word of Life Church at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Kevin King, Kenneth Wells, Johnnie Trevino, Johnnie Herode, Lonnie Soliz, Ralph Crane.

Billy Ray Fleeks III, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in San Angelo.

Billy Ray was born March 19, 1978, in San Angelo, Texas to Billy Ray Fleeks, Sr. and Dineace Malone Fleeks. Billy Ray grew up in San Angelo and graduated from Central High School. He enjoyed playing football during his high school years. After high school, he attended Angelo State University and also Texas A&M. Billy Ray went to work for Tri Corp Security where he worked for many years achieving a supervisor position. Billy Ray was a loving son, brother, husband and father who devoted his life to his family. He loved hanging out with his family and occasionally cooking some good barbeque. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing and he loved watching football, especially his team, the Dallas Cowboys. Billy Ray loved people. He loved to act goofy and joke around with everyone. He would always help anyone in need and had a beautiful forgiving heart. His life and legacy of love will remain in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss him! Billy Ray was preceded in death by his Parents and one brother Jerry Malone.

He leaves to cherish his memory with his beloved family from Gainesville,TX his wife Jammie Thomas, of San Angelo; his four children, Anojah Fleeks, Billy Fleeks, Tariq Thomas and Marcus Thomas, all of San Angelo; 6 Grandchildren; his Brothers, Charles Mitchell and Patrick Mitchell; his Sisters, Dorothy Mitchell, Martha Fleeks, Kienandra Williams, all of San Angelo, Angela Phillips, of Midland, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friend Sam Singleton, of San Angelo.

James Frederick Rogers, age 77, of Carlsbad, Texas passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025. James was born in San Angelo. 

A graveside service for James will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, 4989 FM Highway 1223, San Angelo, TX 76905.

Maria Guadalupe Mendez, age 99 of Sonora passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Love Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in Sonora Cemetery.

Survivors include sons Ernesto and Abelardo Mendez, and daughters Gloria Isala Mendez and Midrian Aboud.
