Sauers William

03/04/2014 - 14:00 , by johnb

William (Bill) Sauers, 84 of San Angelo and formerly of Roulette, Pennsylvania and Toms River, New Jersey, went to be with the Lord on February 28, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Family visitation will be Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Johnson's Funeral Home. A celebration of Bill's life will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Knickerbocker Community Cemetery.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents William and Viola and his late wife Alice Foster. He is survived by his wife Rose Sauers of San Angelo; two sons and their wives: Bill Jr. and Doris Sauers of Lanoka Harbor, NJ and Barry and Donna Sauers of Roulette, PA; stepchildren: Vicky and Jeff Nalor, John Padier, Judith Crane and Eugene Webb; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Joan Cross, of Gladwin, PA.
He was an avid craftsman, building furniture and rocking horses for the great-grandchildren. His official career in the construction business began at the age of 15 with his father. Bill worked on bridges, dams, nuclear power plants and water treatment plants all over the United States. He was also an innovator in the construction business, coming up with new ideas and ways of doing things. He was respected by his peers and had a strong work ethic. He was also a history buff, loved to sing and recite poetry. He was highly intelligent and had a phenomenal memory. He could remember every little detail about every little thing.
The whole family would like to thank Hospice of San Angelo and all of the physicians that treated him at Shannon Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of San Angelo or Knickerbocker Community Church.
