Joy Nell Evans passed from this life on November 9, 2020. 
She was born in Tankersley, Texas on October 10, 1931. Her father, Luther Ratliff, farmed in Tankersley for years. Her mother, Irene, took care of their children and their home. Joy loved living on the farm for it let her be a free spirit. 
On January 22, 1973, she married Richard Evans. He was the love of her life. He loved her every day for 47 years. Joy began suffering from dementia and Richard was her rock. She was able to live at home for three years because of his loving care. 
Joy was born a Baptist, but when she married Richard, she joined the Methodist Church. They were active members for 45 years, and for two years the church and its members came to them. 
Joy worked in the hand-winding department at Ethicon for 25 years. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ollene and brother-in-law, Jake Grimes, brother Buddy Ratliff, and sister Eva Harlen. 
She is survived by her four children; Nelda (Henry) Dusek, Larry (Teresa) Bale, Karen (David) Collier, and Donald Bale, grandchildren; Jenny Lawson, Lisa Bir, Brian Bale, Ben Bale, Mitch Collier, and Rhiannon Bale, great-grandchildren; Gabi, Sam, Bella, and Ellie Bir, and Hailey Lawson, and sister-in-law; Dorothy Ratliff. 
The family would like to thank the Springs Memory Care staff for their loving care of our Mother. Special thanks to Linda and the Hospice staff who grew to love her. Also, the nurses on the 6th floor of Shannon Medical Center who comforted her in the final three days. 
There will be no visitation and a private family service will be held at a later time.

Novella Marie Cotter passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on November 7, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas. Novella was a faithful long-term member of the Green Meadow Church of Christ in San Angelo. Her greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren, and many close friends. She will be greatly missed by all. 

Novella was born in Tatum, NM on June 9, 1934 to Jack and Annabelle Walker who preceded her in death. She grew up in Lovington, NM before settling in San Angelo in 1966. She was employed with GTE/Verizon for 21 years and retired as a Switching Technician. After retirement, she joined the Concho Valley Pioneers. 

Novella loved the arts and was an accomplished china painter/instructor as well as using oil, acrylic, and watercolor mediums. She enjoyed the performing arts and held memberships with the Angelo Civic and ASU theatres. 

Novella is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Kay Cotter of Eden; daughter, Lisa Cotter of Springtown; daughter and son-in-law Lori and Roger Tudor of Mansfield; grandchildren, Jennifer Armor, Casey Armor, Kera Rezac, Jade Newby, Koby Rezac; and great grandchildren Chris Dunn, Sam Chapoy, Adalynn Newby, Cason Thompson, Emma Thompson. 

Visitation will be at Harper Funeral Home on Friday, November 13, 2020 from 5:30pm until 7:30pm. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Harper Funeral Home with Brother Boyd Jennings officiating.

Eva Irene Covey passed away November 7, 2020 in a San Angelo nursing home. A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date. 

Eva was born on July 22, 1940 to Vaughn and Ava (Herring) Brooks in Knox City, Texas. She graduated from O’Brien High School in 1958 and married L.A. Covey on May 1, 1960. They were long time residents of O’Brien before moving to San Angelo in 2007. 

Eva loved people and would talk to anyone, anywhere. She never met a stranger and could always find a way they could be related. She enjoyed her years working as a teacher’s aide in the Knox City and San Angelo schools. She was always happy helping others learn new things. Eva was very artistic and enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts. 

She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband L.A. and brother-in-law Caldwell Weston. 

Eva is survived by her children: Trudy Hunt and husband David of Abilene, Greg Covey and wife Gaylynn of Stephenville, Ava Covey of San Angelo and John Covey and wife Jenn of Eden, sisters Barbara Weston of Macon, GA and Vonnita Ivie of Knox City, brother Irvin Brooks and wife Martha of Aspermont, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends. 
Eva was a Christian wife, mother and friend. She lived her life to serve her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in San Angelo.

Charles Wesley Owens, Jr., 94, died Friday, November 6, 2020 “slipping the surly bonds of earth”. 
He was born December 17, 1925, to Hazel Eggsware Owens and Charles W. Owens and was raised by grandmother Eva Bridge in Bennington, VT. 
Charles volunteered at an early age for military service with his grandmother’s reluctant consent, serving 20 years during war and peacetime in many parts of the world. He achieved his dream and goal to become a pilot and flew many types of planes, his favorite being the F-100. He taught many cadets to fly B-25’s at GAFB. 
Charles retired to San Angelo and was a DJ for KGKL, teacher at San Angelo Business College, and a banker. He oversaw the installation of the first ATM machine in San Angelo at West Side Bank. 
He was a member of the American Legion, Masons, Concho Scottish Rite, Legion of Honor and Sojourners. 
He is survived by wife, Barbara of 63 years, son Michael and wife Patty, son Keith and wife Julee, and daughter Cynthia Nixon, grandchildren, Tiffany Owens, Haley Anne Nixon and Aaron Robert Nixon. 
He is preceded in death by his son-in-law, the late Robert Nixon, Jr. 
Due to COVID-19, a memorial service will be held at a later date. If desired, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice or Emmanuel Episcopal Church where Charles will rest.

Victoria Ybarra Ramirez, 75, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020, in San Angelo.

Public viewing will be from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 PM at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Pastor John Ramirez, Victoria's son, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ramirez was born June 22, 1945, in San Angelo. She married Juan A. Ramirez on November 22, 1959, in San Angelo. She worked for Sage Crest as a ward secretary for 35 years before retiring in 2011. She was a member of Jerusalem Assembly of God, serving as the Missionelle Coordinator for over 20 years when she loved to serve and bring people to the Lord. She loved to cook and feed her family, and she also enjoyed traveling. Mrs. Ramirez loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Juan Ramirez; two sons, Ernesto Ramirez, and John Ramirez and wife Jeanelle; three daughters, Christina Ramirez, Elizabeth Ramirez and husband Eddie Fay, and Thelma Gonzales and husband Javier; 34 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Leroy Ybarra, Jr. and wife Juanita, Renaldo Ybarra and wife Alma, and Raul Figuerou; four sisters, Alma Hernandez, Yolanda Terrazas and husband Miguel, Gena Mae Ybarra, and Grace Hernandez and husband Art. Victoria was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Viola Ybarra; a grandson, Brian Garcia, great grandson, Bryan Garcia; a brother, Fredirico Ybarra, and a sister, Pascuala Torres.

Sylvia G. Hernandez age 59 of San Angelo, entered the gates of Heaven on Saturday, November 7th in San Angelo.

Public viewing will be on Thursday, November 12th from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Robert Massie Funeral Home. A prayer service will begin at 6:00 PM on Thursday, led by the family. The funeral service will be on Friday, November 13th at 2:00 PM at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Burial will be at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.

The family request that everyone wear masks during the viewing and services and to be respectful of others by observing social distancing.

Sylvia was born March 18, 1961, in San Angelo to Martin De Santiago and Carolina Guardarrama Hernandez.

Sylvia could be described as “Ms. Santa Claus” because she did everything in her power to provide for her family, especially her nieces and nephews, who she thought of as her own children. She cherished her family and enjoyed cooking and spending as much time with them as possible. She was also very generous and caring woman who loved to devote her time and resources to the Mexico Missions. Sylvia attended Temple Jerusalem Assembly of God Church.

For over forty years and until she became ill Sylvia worked as the unit clerk in ICU at Shannon Medical. She loved her job and her co-workers, who she considered family.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her siblings, Bertha Lopez and her husband Efrain of San Angelo, Emilia Ramirez and her husband Daniel of San Angelo, Angelica Luna and her husband Samuel of San Antonio, Martin G. Hernandez and his wife Rita of San Angelo and Orlando G. Hernandez and his wife Marsha of San Antonio; her many numerous loving nieces and nephews; and her Shannon work family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her niece, Iris Lopez who cared for her and to Ruby whose friendship meant the world to Sylvia.
