Wichita Falls Rider broke on top and refused to fold in holding off Lubbock-Cooper 21-13 during this Texas football game.

The Raiders avoided the brakes and shifted into victory gear via a 7-0 stretch over the final quarter.

The Raiders broke in front at the beginning of the fourth quarter with a 14-13 lead over the Pirates.

An intermission tie at 7-7 allowed for a respite as both teams looked to regroup in the locker room.

Neither squad could muster points in the first quarter.

Manuel Morales Ruiz, Jr.

Manuel M. Ruiz, Jr., 66, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 in San Angelo, Texas.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Manuel M. Ruiz, Jr., was born on June 13, 1954 in Del Rio, Texas. Mr. Ruiz has been a lifelong resident of San Angelo. He graduated from Central High School in 1973. Manuel was a member of Emmanuel Christian Center, as the Superintendent of Sunday School Ministries and played the trumpet for many years. On November 20, 1976, he married Elida Moreno in San Angelo. Manuel worked at Ethicon for 28 years. He later worked for the San Angelo ISD transportation department, retiring in 2020. He then became a member of the Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church. Manuel was an avid Bobcat, Dallas Cowboy fan, enjoyed carpentry, and playing the guitar. 

Survivors include his wife Elida; a son, Gabriel Ruiz, Sr., (Brenda); a daughter, Patricia Ruiz; two grandchildren, Gabriel Ruiz, Jr., and Miranda Ruiz; a brother Arturo Ruiz (Bernice); two sisters Angie Cuellar (Eddie), and Elizabeth San Miguel (Abel).

Maria Lidia Lopez, 72 passed away Friday, January 1, 2021, in San Angelo.

Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service being at 6:00 PM Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM Friday, January 8, 2021, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Pastor Elizabeth Franco, pastor of Joy of Jesus Christ Center, officiating. Burial will follow at Farimount Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Maria Lidia Lopez was a very sweet loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother. She was also loving and caring not only to her family but to all others. Everyone was a friend, and no one ever left her home without a gift. Maria dedicated her life to taking care of her family.

She is survived by her husband, Lorenzo R Lopez, Jr. of over 50 years of marriage; her son, Albert Garcia Jr. wife Rose; her daughter, Lori Lopez husband James W Nelson; her son, Lorenzo R Lopez, III wife Cindy; her grandkids, Albert L Garcia III, April Kelim husband Matt Kelim, Abraham Garcia wife Amanda Kerley, Adrianna L Garcia, Catherine Arreola husband Jarrett Westerman, Paul A Reifke wife Jennifer and Erik Reifke; She was Nana to her 12 great grandkids, Zachary, Aubrey Ann, Audrina Rose, Abraham, James Albert, Zayden, Celene Ava, Matthew, Aiden, Lliam, Julian “Juju” & Jeremiah; she is also survived by two sisters, Pauline Cortez and Lala Blanco; several nieces and nephews’. She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and two brothers.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Maria’s niece, Susie Sanchez & family for all their love and support. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all doctors and staff at Shannon Medical Center for all they did for our loving Mother and for all of us.
