She was born on April 8, 1942, in Mobile, Ala. to Thomas Matthew Gillespie and Lois (Moncrief) Gillespie. She was raised in Corpus Christi, Tex., and graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1960. On Christmas Day 1960, she married Lanier Campbell, and they shared 61 devoted years together until his death in January 2022.

When her children got older, Sandra began working as a bookkeeper and office manager, working out of her home in the beginning, then serving as office manager for a large San Angelo establishment until she retired in the early 2000s.

Tad Logan

03/19/2025 - 10:05 , by TKing09

On March 16th, after a courageous battle with cancer, Tad Logan, passed peacefully from this life to his heavenly home. Theodore Ralph Logan III was born May 14, 1951 in San Angelo, Texas. He was the third child of Ralph and Virginia Logan and was adored by his two older sisters, Lynne and Teddy. His childhood was filled with Logan/Ford cousin adventures, including church together every Sunday followed by lunch at their grandparents’ home on the Concho River. He would talk of these memories often and treasured the relationships he had with each of his 14 first cousins. Also, Tad was involved in Boy Scouts and attended Camp Philmont, which suited his love for the outdoors.

Tad graduated from Central High School in 1969 and was a proud member of the mascot care team. He even had scars on his arm from the “Great Bobcat Escape.” Upon graduation, Tad attended TCU where he made lasting friendships with members of his fraternity. After a few years at TCU, Tad moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas. Tad graduated from UT in 1973 with a degree in business. Tad married Marilyn Wilson in July of 1973. This union blessed him with two children, Alice and Andrew, who loved their father dearly.

Tad married his loving wife, Pat Houston-Logan, in 1998. He gained a step-daughter, Stacie, and many wonderful members of Pat’s extended family. In their free time, you could find Tad and Pat on the golf course, sitting on their back porch throwing the ball to their beloved dog, Rocky, or spending time with family and friends. Tad especially enjoyed his group of golf buddies.

As his family grew Tad welcomed two son-in-laws, a daughter-in-law, and his very special grandchildren: Ella Elkins (15), Hannah Hildebrand (15), Hayden Hildebrand (13), and Walter Logan (7). After the birth of his grandchildren, Tad became affectionately known as GrandTad.

GrandTad’s love language was planning and preparing delicious food for his family and friends. He loved to think about food and often you would catch him planning dinner while eating lunch. Preparing and enjoying breakfast might have been his favorite meal. Recently, he stayed at his daughter’s home and he woke up early every morning to cook a full breakfast with eggs prepared exactly the way each family member preferred. He was fondly referred to as “the clean up guy” because that one last bite usually wasn’t his last. GrandTad also blessed us with sincere heart felt prayers at our gatherings.

Tad enjoyed some very special vacations. A few of his favorites were San Miguel, Mexico, Hawaii, and fishing trips to Alaska with his son, Andrew, and cousins, Bob and Rick. A visit to the Logan castle in Scotland was a highlight of a week long trip that he and Pat took to the United Kingdom.

Tad had an artistic eye, and was most content when he was using this gift in his home and his work. His job as a contractor afforded him the opportunity to do this on a daily basis.

Tad is proceeded in death by his parents, Ralph and Virginia Logan, and his sister, Lynne Alexander. Here to cherish his memory are his wife, Pat Logan; daughter Alice Hildebrand and husband, John; son Andrew Logan and wife, Robin; Stacie Elkins and husband Chad and his four grandchildren, Ella Elkins, Hannah and Hayden Hildebrand, and Walter Logan; sister Teddy Kinney and husband, John Eddie, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday March 22, 2025 at Grace Christian Church, formerly First Christian Church, located at 29 North Oakes Street, San Angelo, Texas 76903. A reception to follow at 1803 Fringe, San Angelo 76904.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Boy Scouts, Hospice of San Angelo, or a charity of your choosing.
