Danny Ray Simmons passed away January 14, 2021 in San Angelo, Texas. He was born on July 17, 1955 in Wichita Falls to Richard Eugene Simmons and Glenda Shreeve. He married Cynthia Ann Harris on April 11, 1980 in Odem, Texas. He proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1975-1979 and then for Portland PD, Crockett County, Crane PD, and as Crane County Sherriff from 1979-2004. He was hired as an LEP contractor through the Department of Defense and served in Iraq and Afghanistan as the head of the Bagdad Police Academy College and Army IED bombing investigator from 2005-2015. He was preceded in death by his father Richard Simmons and step mother Lou Ann Simmons. He is survived by his wife Cindy Simmons, children Danna Kidd, Jason Simmons, Byron Simmons, Sharla Simmons, and grandchildren Kasey, Skyler, Bryson, Logan, Kylee, Nicolai, Chloe, Jackson, Journee, Lyla, Kinsley, Bayer, Karleigh, and “baby-on-the-way” Simmons.
Services will be held Saturday, January 16 at 10:00am at Johnson Street Church of Christ followed by graveside Military service at Fairmount Cemetery in San Angelo, Texas. Live stream will be available at www.facebook.com/harperfhandcremato…;
