San Angelo Man Killed in Crash on SH 158 in Midland County

 

MIDLAND COUNTY, TX — A 26-year-old San Angelo man died Tuesday morning in a crash involving a Freightliner on State Highway 158 and County Road 160, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. 

It happened around 6:40 a.m. when Christopher Aaron Vargas, driving a Ram 2500 westbound on SH 158, struck the rear of a Freightliner with a trailer. The Freightliner, driven by Jesus Daniel Mesa-Pena, 27, of Tomball, was traveling in the same lane ahead of Vargas.

Vargas was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mesa-Pena was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
