Speeding Texas Driver Killed After Swerving to Avoid Dog, Police Say

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A 27-year-old man died early Thanksgiving morning in a crash after reportedly swerving to avoid a dog in the road, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

This happened just after midnight along Spencer Road near North Eldridge Parkway in northwest Harris County. Officials said the man lost control of his vehicle, struck a light pole, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Speed is believed to have been a factor, as dashcam footage from a witness showed the vehicle was traveling at a high speed before the crash.

The driver was identified as Joerramon Janas, 27. During the investigation, two drivers reportedly ignored barricades protecting the crash scene and were later detained for driving while intoxicated.
