SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University volleyball team made its first appearance this year in the NCAA Division II national rankings, jumping up to No. 21 this week.
The Rambelles are 8-1 overall and on a seven-match winning streak heading into a pair of Top 25 matchups this week.
ASU will play No. 20 Dallas Baptist at 6 p.m. Thursday and No. 3 West Texas A&M at 6 p.m. Friday.
Both matches will be played in Dallas as part of the Lone Star Conference Challenge. They’ll count toward regional rankings, but the matches won’t be reflected in the conference standings.
ASU’s seven-match winning streak included a four-set win over No. 15 Colorado Mesa last week.
The Belles’ only loss was a five-setter against then-No. 23 Central Oklahoma in the second match of the year. UCO remains undefeated and is up to No. 15.
ASU is in the midst of a long road trip. The Belles won’t play their next home match until Oct. 11 against Texas A&M International.
Tampa remains the top team in the American Volleyball Coaches Association rankings, followed by MSU Denver, West Texas A&M, Nebraska Kearney and Southwest Minnesota State.
