Concho Valley Teams Grounded at 7-on-7 State Tournament

COLLEGE STATION, TX — After a promising first day at the 7-on-7 state tournament, Concho Valley schools were unable to put together a run in the elimination bracket Friday.

Eldorado blanked Iraan 33-0, then lost to Ganado 27-13.

Ganado eventually reached the state final before falling 34-21 to Tidehaven for the Division III championship.

Junction, which was making its state tournament debut, won all three of its games Thursday. However, the Eagles dropped their opening game Friday 27-21 to Coahoma, which lost all of its games a day earlier.

Coahoma reeled off three wins Friday to reach the state semifinals, where they fell 35-13 to Ganado.

Defending champion Gunter also made an early exit, losing its opening game in the elimination bracket 13-7 to Grapeland.

In the Division II bracket, Frisco Panther Creek won the state title 32-26 over Kilgore.

The Division I tournament began Friday and will conclude Saturday.
