Police Investigating Infant’s Death After Body Found Near Abilene Lake

 

ABILENE, TX – Abilene Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate the death of an infant discovered near Lake Ft. Phantom Hill on Saturday, August 31.

The body of the infant, identified as a girl, was found near Sea Bee Park just before 9 p.m. Detectives reported that the infant had been deceased for some time before being found.

Preliminary autopsy results that were released today indicate that the child was between 6 and 10.5 months old. Authorities are still working to determine the infant’s race, and no arrests have been made as of yet. Detectives have followed up on numerous tips and are requesting additional assistance from the public.

Due to the victim’s age, details on the case remain limited, and authorities are protecting sensitive information under the Family Code. The investigation is ongoing.
