Cowboys Lose Record Breaking Corner to Broken Foot

DALLAS, TX— The Dallas Cowboys will be without their record-breaking cornerback for several weeks.

Dallas Cowboy cornerback DaRon Bland is out for six to eight weeks with a stress fracture in his foot just weeks before the start of the regular season. Bland will undergo surgery to repair the fracture.

Bland broke out last season without Trevon Diggs on the field and set an NFL record for interceptions returned for touchdowns. Cowboy fans were expecting to have both Bland and Diggs, who led the NFL in interceptions in his second season, but now will have to wait for both ballhawks to be on the field at the same time.

If everything goes according to plan, Bland can expect to be back on the field for maybe the Steelers game on October 6, the Lions game on October 13, or at the worst for the San Francisco game on October 27.

It is also being reported that the Cowboys don’t expect to look for outside help at corner and like the depth on the team already. One reason for this way of thinking could be rookie Caelen Carson’s play during training camp, so fans could see the rookie contribute early on.
