Angelo State Belles' Pena Named LSC Freshman of the Week

 

RICHARDSON, TX — The No. 6-ranked Angelo State University volleyball team earned its second Lone Star Conference weekly honor in as many weeks Tuesday, with setter Olivia Pena being named the LSC Freshman of the Week.

Pena, a kinesiology major from Prosper, helped lead the Belles to a 2-0 record during LSC Challenge Weekend with victories over West Texas A&M and Lubbock Christian.

Pena averaged 5.5 assists per set while adding 10 digs, one kill and one service ace.

ASU's Sydney Thornton was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week last week.

ASU will now hit the road to begin LSC play. The Belles will face St. Mary's on Friday in San Antonio before traveling to Austin to take on St. Edward's on Saturday.
