Two women have been sent to the hospital after being involved in a crash in the northbound lane of US 87 at March Road.
The crash involved a brown Chevrolet Suburban and a gold Ford F-150 with dealer plates. The Suburban sustained front end damage in the crash, which is believed to have been caused when the F-150, stationary at March Road, attempted to cross the northbound lane and failed to yield right-of-way to the oncoming Suburban. The Suburban then clipped the back of the truck, witnesses say, ripping off the bumper and leaving the tailpipe dangling.
Two children were onboard the Suburban when it crashed, one of whom traveled with the mother to the hospital. The other child was transported by private vehicle. Neither of the children were injured and which vehicle the second woman came from has not yet been stated.
Members of the Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Tom Green County Sheriff's Office are tending the scene and report that neither of the women were seriously injured; however, were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
Traffic is moving past the wreckage, however US 87 northbound is down to one lane.
