GoFundMe Set Up for Hit-and-Run Victim

SAN ANGELO, TX — The family of the victim in the recent tragic fatal hit-and-run asks the San Angelo community for help during their time of need. A GoFundMe has been set up for James Dwyer Jr., who lost his life in a hit-and-run on Sunday morning. His family asks for help to cover the funeral expenses.

Dwyer Jr., 53, was a graduate of Lake View High School and an avid fisherman. He was a huge NASCAR fan who was loved by his family. Dwyer was a very giving person. His family said he was always the first one there to try to help out someone in need.

There have been comments circulating on social media claiming that Dwyer has been seen multiple times walking in the middle of Grape Creek Rd. His Stepmother took a moment to debunk that claim. She said that Dwyer Jr. was basically blind. Apparently, he used the road to see where he was going. In fact, she said that he was scheduled for eye surgery on August 12 with a doctor in Dallas before he lost his life. She was adamant that he was not stumbling around the middle of the road but using the lines as a way to see where he was going.

His stepmother recently set up a GoFundMe page to help the family with funeral expenses.

“Hello, my name is Sharon. My beloved stepson, James Dwyer Jr, was the victim of a senseless hit-and-run tragedy that has taken him from us forever,” the post read. 

“He has always been a loving son, and his father and I are heartbroken. James Jr. was in good health, and we were completely unprepared for his passing. His father and I are on a fixed income and struggling with his final expenses. Any help and prayers will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all, and God Bless!”
