SAN ANGELO, TX - The San Angelo Community Band (SACB), under the direction of Dr. Constance Kelley of the Angelo State University music faculty, will present the final concert of its 2024 Summer Series.
This will happen on Monday, Aug. 5, at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church, 4522 College Hills Blvd.
Titled "Summer Dances," the concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the church's Life Center and is open and free to the public. The musical program will include:
- "Episode I: Wabbit!" from "Animation" by Randall Standridge
- "Rhapsody in Blue" by George Gershwin - featuring Hunter Mabery on piano
- "Amparito Roca" by Jaime Texidor
- "Southwest Summer" by Robert W. Smith - inspired by the San Antonio River Walk
- "The Elephant and the Fly" by Henri Kling - featuring Stephanie Dearborn-Ellis on piccolo and Mike Barry on trombone
- "Summer of '69 (The Music of Woodstock)" by Ted Ricketts
- "Havana Nights" by Randall Standridge
Celebrating its 35th year, the SACB features more than 50 local and area musicians, including ASU students and faculty, local and area public school music teachers, and community members.
