ShareLunkers caught at Twin Buttes, Lake Nasworthy

SAN ANGELO, TX — Three ShareLunker bass have been caught this month at Twin Buttes and Lake Nasworthy just outside of San Angelo.

The catches are particularly notable as the lakes aren't known for producing many ShareLunkers.

Twin Buttes had previously had only three ShareLunkers caught this year before San Angelo's Stephen Sonnenberg pulled an 8-pounder from the lake July 6, 2024.

Two days later, Lee Ordiway from Miles caught an 8.14-pound bass at Twin Buttes.

ShareLunkers have been even more rare at Lake Nasworthy, which went over a year without one being caught before Wall's Slade Smith caught an 8.04-pounder June 21.

It took only 17 days for another one to be reeled in when Midland's Garret Tatum caught a 9.04-pound fish July 8.

O.H. Ivie, located about 45 miles east of San Angelo, has produced four ShareLunkers this month — including a 10.75-pounder by San Angelo's Randy Martin on July 3 — bringing its total to 356 caught since 2020.

Since 1986, the TPWD's Toyota ShareLunker program has been partnering with anglers to promote and enhance bass fishing in Texas.

Anglers who reel in any largemouth bass at least 8 pounds or 24 inches can participate by entering their lunker catch information. Complete entry requirements online or in the new ShareLunker mobile app during the year-long season (January 1 through December 31).

All confirmed ShareLunker participants will receive a Catch Kit corresponding to their fish's weight class. Each Catch Kit includes an achievement decal, merchandise and other giveaways. Plus, everyone who enters will be included in a grand prize drawing to win a $5,000 shopping spree and other prizes. Anglers who donate their 13-pound or larger bass for spawning will be entered in an additional drawing to win a $5,000 shopping spree, VIP access to the Toyota ShareLunker Annual Awards event and other prizes.
