SAN ANGELO, TX — A significant operation by the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office has led to the arrest of a San Angelo man on multiple charges related to child pornography. The arrest occurred on Tuesday, following the execution of a search warrant by the Sheriff's Office in the 2500 block of Bowie Street.
The operation stemmed from a tip received by the Criminal Investigations Division from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). This tip initiated a Crimes Against Children investigation, focusing on the activities of 33-year-old Floyd Tumey.
During the search, investigators discovered over 80 videos and images in Tumey's possession. These disturbing materials reportedly depicted very young children engaged in sexual conduct. The evidence seized at the scene led to Tumey's arrest on five counts of Possession of Child Pornography. Each count is considered a third-degree felony under state law.
The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office has emphasized its ongoing commitment to investigating and acting upon crimes involving child exploitation and abuse. They acknowledge the critical role of information and collaboration with national organizations like the NCMEC in addressing these serious issues.
The Sheriff's Office has not released further details about the investigation, citing the ongoing nature of the case. However, they assure the public that they are dedicated to thoroughly investigating all leads and bringing those who exploit children to justice.
The arrest of Floyd Tumey marks a significant step in the Sheriff's Office's efforts to combat child pornography and protect vulnerable children in the community. The office encourages anyone with information about such crimes to come forward and help in their ongoing efforts to safeguard children from exploitation and abuse.
For more information or to report a tip, individuals can contact the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Arrests do not assume guilt and Mr. Tumey will have his day in court.
