SAN ANGELO – Tom Green County Sheriff's Office investigators are searching for the driver of a stolen motorcycle who fled law enforcement on Friday. Below is information from the TGCSO Tuesday morning.

On December 09, 2022, the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office responded to the 5900 block of US Highway 87 North in reference to a report concerning the location of two stolen motorcycles. Upon responding to the area, a Tom Green County Deputies observed the motorcycles traveling northbound on Side View Road at the intersection of Apache Lane. As deputies attempted to stop these vehicles, the two motorcycles parted and two separate pursuits were initiated.
One such pursuit traveled south into the City of San Angelo where it was involved in a traffic accident at the intersection of US Highway 87 North and 29th Street. The driver, Jaysen Braman, was taken into custody for Evading Arrest Det W/Veh and Unauth Use of Vehicle. The driver of the second stolen motorcycle fled to the West Carlsbad Loop area where he abandoned the motorcycle on foot and escaped into the pasture. The driver of this motorcycle has been identified as 37-year-old Stephen Allen Smith, of Ballinger. Smith currently has warrants for his arrest for Unauth Use of Vehicle, Evading Arrest Det W/Veh, Theft Prop >=$2,500<$30K, Go Off Bond: Criminal Mischief >=$750<$2500.
The Tom Green County Sheriff's office is requesting the public's assistance in locating Stephen Smith as a result of this incident.
