Police: Central High Student Pointed Loaded Gun at Classmate Before Arrest

SAN ANGELO, TX — A 16-year-old Central High School student is accused of pointing a loaded firearm at another student before being arrested on campus Tuesday, according to San Angelo police.

This happened around 11:45 a.m., when San Angelo ISD administrators alerted school resource officers that a student was believed to be armed. Officers responded immediately, detained the student and recovered a loaded firearm.

Police said the victim reported that the 16-year-old had pointed the weapon at them prior to officers being notified. Detectives later confirmed the allegation during the investigation.

The student was transported to the Juvenile Justice Center and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a first-degree felony, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon in a Prohibited Place, a third-degree felony.

SAPD credited the quick reporting by the victim and school personnel with allowing officers to intervene swiftly and ensure campus safety.
