Fiery Head-On Crash Kills Two Teens in the Big Country

ROBY, TX – Two teenagers from Snyder were killed in a fiery crash outside of Roby on Saturday morning.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on Aug. 27 at around 6:06 a.m., troopers with the DPS were dispatched to US Highway 180, about 7.6 miles west of Roby, for the report of a major crash.

When the troopers arrived they discovered a 2021 Nissan Sentra and a 2017 Dodge Durango SUV that had crash in the middle of the roadway and had caught on fire. The trooper's report confirmed that both vehicles completely burned in the crash.

There were two occupants in the Sentra. Through investigative information the troopers were able to determine the occupants were 17-year-old Javier Jakob Dominguez of Snyder and 14-year-old Armando Salvadorian Carrillo of Snyder. Both occupants were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Durango was occupied only by the driver, 28-year-old Jeremiah Scott Morgan, of Hamlin. Morgan was taken to UMC in Lubbock with incapacitating and critical injuries. He was also wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The DPS investigation revealed that the Sentra was traveling east on U.S. Highway 180 at mile marker 381. The Durango was traveling west. 

The Sentra was driven across the center dividing stripe striking the Durango head on. Both of the vehicles caught on fire and were completely burned in the crash.

Confirmation of the identity of the occupants of the Sentra was made through investigative information and leads to the next of kin.

Final identification of the occupants will be confirmed through the medical examiner's office. 

At the time of the crash the weather was clear and the road was dry.
