Odessa Man Killed in Big Rig Crash Outside Kermit

KERMIT, TX- An Odessa man was killed in a crash just east of Kermit in Winkler County on Monday afternoon.

Alex Martinez Jr was traveling eastbound on highway 302 in a semi-truck. Traffic in front of Martinez Jr. had stopped, which he did not realize.

To avoid the vehicles, Martinez Jr. swerved, drove into the westbound lanes and sideswiped another semi-truck.

Martinez Jr. died at the scene and the other driver was not injured.

This is the second fatal crash on highway 302 outside Kermit. The first was a head on crash between two semi trucks that left one dead.
