SAN ANGELO, TX – An elderly woman in an electric wheelchair was struck by a vehicle on Friday afternoon in front of Shannon's downtown hospital.
According to the San Angelo Police Department's Public Information Officer Richard Espinoza, on Dec. 3, officers with the SAPD were dispatched to the intersection of Harris and Main for the report of major crash involving a pedestrian.
When the officers arrived on scene, they discovered that a green midsize SUV had crashed into a 75-year-old woman who was crossing the street in an electric wheelchair.

The victim was attempting to cross the street from the Lowes parking lot into the Shannon parking lot via the cross walk. Officer Espinoza confirmed that she was taken to Shannon with back, head and neck pain.
As soon as the crash occurred a number of nurses from Shannon left the hospital and jumped in to help the woman. Here is a video of the scene:
The driver of the mid-size SUV was not injured and received a warning for failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian at a crosswalk.
The scene was cleared around 12 p.m.
